We're looking for some software that can simply track support hours.
E.G we add x number of hours, or set x hours per month, and then as we do work, log the time, and this gets removed.
I'd rather not have to do it manually although after the 2 days I've spent evaluating software to do it, it's rather tempting to give up..

We are on a budget so ConnectWise is out ;)

Have you looked at Toggl?
Pretty sure it will do what you want.

Hi, I used to be actively involved with the dotProject Open Source Project Management web software and have used it to keep track of that kind of stuff working with peeps in other countries on community projects. Not been involved for about 5yrs, but I hear it's become more advanced since then. They have a top notch dev guy and excellent community support if you want to try it out.

I'm out of my mind right now... please leave a message after the shriek...

PS: this is good resource too http://www.opensourcecms.com/ which hosts a heap of live demos so you can play with the backends.

I have, and it doesn't have the ability to record a set number of allowed hours per customer as far as I know?

Thanks. None of these seem to fit our needs either :(

Microsoft Dynamics CRM can do that.

It has the option of either # incidents, or purchase of hours on the contract line. You add 'cases' and they either burn up the minutes/hours, or #incidents depending on the setup.

you can set up a 25 User/30 Day Trial CRM instance in the cloud (via Office 365) and have a play if you like.

Damn. I was hoping nobody would say that.
I have the license for it but I'm trying to avoid setting up an SQL Server...

Have you looked at all the Pro features (Cost is US$5 per user per month)?
I think if you set up tasks you can have a set number of hours and then it shows how many hours for that task have been used.
