Hi Team

Just trying to liven a second screen on some Windows XP Embedded thin clients.  They are running SP3 and have RDP 6.0 installed but RDP 7 would give a nicer result.  Microsoft seem to have pulled this from the interwebs.  Does anyone have a copy of the download floating around?

Cheers, Mike

"We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." when going to Update for Windows XP, x86-based versions on that page

The download link has been broken for a while now. Tweeted MSWindows support about it a couple months ago and they basically said "winxp support is over". Would also like this file alot!

I essentially gave up and started nuking the XPE based units (file 13). Had 2 days of attempting to get the onboard and updated client to work to a 2012 TS farm. All and sundry of messages pertaining to encryption and various false connection issues. All turns out that XPE has a heap of registry and NTLM security holes that 2012 essentially doesn't like and needs to have to authenticate. No matter the RDP cleint ver :(

May be a similar issue if you are having issues. If not, move along nothing to see here.

Hi Team

Another GZ user was kind enough to send me a copy.  Was able to successfully install the update on an HP T5740 running XP Embedded SP3 and the multi-monitor support is working beautifully.  We expect to keep using those thin clients for the next 3 years or more with a 2012 R2 server.

PM me if you want a copy @chewster or others.

Cheers

Innnnteresting. So you needed this for multi screen connections FROM the units? Site I was at had dual screen running on well.. all of them without an issue. But refusal to connect to the newer server farm. Remoting to them for support was a different story, had to use Dameware for the multiscreen ones.

I wonder if it was more the server side load balancer being really fussy in my case then. If they could keep using the XPEs its a bonus, but if not good motivation to drop the security holes off.

So does the 7 client support multi screen on the TS side in, or is that for out to the farm. Similarly we were running 5740s among others.

The thin clients running XP Embedded had RDP6 on them and would not do dual displays.  Some came with Windows Embedded 2009 (based on XP SP3) and these had RDP7 (if you right-click on the mstsc.exe it says version 6.1).  We are connecting to a basic RDP server from these units - nothing farm-ish or load balance-ish on it.

This is the only place I'm not concerned about having XP still floating around.  RDP session auto-starts and all changes to XP are lost at power off and there are no local servers on the site to infect.  Local web browser is semi-hidden (and so old it is unlikely to be used anyway).
