Any comments on either Splashtop or AnyDesk?

Any other option for use with Servers that is either cheaper or free?

I do have Chrome RD installed but I think it's a bit slow compared to TeamViewer. TeamViewer is extremely expensive though.

We use Comodo as our basic RMM and remote control. Works on servers, PC and Macs which is handy.

Free as well which is useful. https://one.comodo.com/

Thanks for the comment. I already have a paid Pulseway subscription to monitor services and other items so I might as well use the included Remote Desktop instead of bothering with Teamviewer and its nagging for a paid subscription. Uninstalled now.

Anydesk - been using it at home for couple years and slowly starting to use it at work. Lot faster and smaller than TV.

For critical stuff I really avoid anything that goes via a central system that isn't under my control. Professionally I use screenconnect (Now ConnectWise Control) They do a free version for a single user but not 100% on if it's on-prem or only on their cloud.

Privately I use good old VPN + RDP with either plain old RAS or newer tech like Algo and ZeroTier

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

We use screenconnect, hosted on a server here in nz and it works great as we can brand it as our own, each user can have a login and you can group the client pc/sites.

there is back end access now with a command prompt for windows machines that comes in handy, you can also send commands through the web interface to the machine and get a response, which works great for installing apps remotely

I pay for Anydesk at work. Been using 3 for months. So far so good and does what I need. The only thing I've had an issue with is some of the UAC windows are only controllable via a person at the remote computer.

In my view cannot beat ssh tunnels, poor man's vpn for sure but a lot less complex than other vpn solutions and in my view no less vulnerable. Then just ssh, rdp or vnc depending on the server target.

My use case is pretty simple but I wanted to control my media pc from my laptop. I tried Teamviewer first but found it unnecessarily convoluted. Anydesk worked much better in every way, quick, sensible interface, easy to use. For my purposes it was much better. I haven't needed it for awhile but it was great when I did.

Via work have a paid TV license, but I've been frustrated by their inability to get a solution to fix/replace the blackscreen drivers, even as a paying customer. Do any of the competing products have that ability under modern W10 versions?

Same as sparkz25, I have a self-hosted ScreenConnect license (Now called Connectwise Control) and I have the server hosted on Azure.

Just upgraded to the latest version and loving the new features.
Had it for a number of years so luckily grandfathered into the old pricing before ConnectWise took them over and made the self-hosted version wayyyy more expensive.

They do have a cloud hosted free version that allows you to have up to 3 computers with the unattended client installed.

The iOS app works really well to for when I'm not in front of a computer.

AnyDesk wins for me. Used in a variety of situations - from remote client support to server management, & across platforms - Galaxy Tab, iPad, Mac & Windows PC's. I'm yet to have an issue of any sort. Team Viewer very quickly became yesterday's news.

To add to that, do any of the competitors have an automated method to deploy to Mac via jamf? TeamViewer doesn't support silent install for Mac now days.

I have several hundred PCs controlled using Splashtop Business, and recommend it highly having used it for several years now. I was originally a LogmeIn Central customer until they became super-expensive and well beyond the resources of a small one man band like me. As an early adopter, it still only costs me US$60 a year all up which is amazing value, and performance, stability and features have steadily improved over the years.  It's fine for Windows servers, PCs running WinXP to Win10, and Macs etc.

I find Splashtop, while good, does use a fair bit of CPU. Other than that, its been good.
