I have a big batch file I run occasionally. If I see an error I hit Control-C, but that just stops the current command - the next 20 commands in the batch file still run. I end up holding Control-C down but some of the commands still run. I'll do it a better way one day, but for now this is the easiest way.

I could close the DOS window, but that's inconvenient. Is there another way to stop the batch file running and exit to the command prompt?

I think if you quickly double tap ctrl-c you should then be prompted to terminate batch job (Y/N)

First hit terminates the current command, second sends the terminate to the batch job itself.

Not sure what you are running but google ERRORLEVEL can be used for checks after execution then you could print and error message and use GOTO to get to end and out.

I did look at errorlevel the other day. I'm running AWS CLI, on first look it doesn't seem to report it properly, but I will have another look thanks Squishy.

You can simply insert a 'pause' command in the batch file where you want a break/continue.

Useful for debugging batch files too.
