And bit of topic galaxy fold hand on all over you tube does look impressive. Battery life be big factor with that...not even available in nz, reason why I brought this in the end

Ehh, will wait for a few gens before considering one.

How's the general consensus on P30 pro so far?

I'm quite happy with mine other than a few quirks

- Lockscreen notification requires double tap instead of swipe down to expand

- Uses volume button to initiate camera instead of power key

- Share interface is harder to navigate

Overall really satisfied with the battery life, quick face detection, and good camera for stills

So after all the 2 degree deals, was anybody denied cancelling immediately? The guys in Noel Leeming were even promoting it, but I do know of 3 cases the rebates werent refunded immediately.

And for those that bought the flat screen p30 which I wish the p30 pro had been, how have you found not having OIS?

Naturally the p30 blows out highlights, but one only needs some basic knowledge how to correct that.

On the S10 front, whilst the pictures are still some of the best day time and wide screen and definitely the best stabilised video, a clear discrepancy between exynos and SD has shown up in image clarity (not sharpness, slightly different in photography terms). its minor but annoying. I wonder if its been there since the s8.

I'm happy with the hardware, but having had Nexus phones since 2014, I'm struggling with the shift from vanilla android to EMUI

I wonder if I should give up on waiting for a message from PB Tech and try in store again. A single stock of my phone is now showing in the store and there's also stock for web orders. (Would have thought stock already reserved shouldn't show up but who knows with PB Tech.) One possibility is they're still waiting supply of the UE Boom 3 before contacting me. Alternatively the SMS never made it or the person recorded my number wrong. (One limitation compared to Noel Leeming, my order isn't tied to an account so no easy way for me to check if their system thinks mine is ready.)

BTW what do people think of the Breathing Crystal vs Aurora? Was in a rush so didn't really look that well but chose the breathing crystal. It seemed to show the gradient and changing colour better to me, probably in part due to the lightness. Too late now of course but still wondering what people think especially if you've had more than in store experience with both.

Definitely been people who have had problems when trying to cancel e.g. one in this thread https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=247732&page_no=14#2211928

Several were resolved by trying harder. E.g. by asking the person for details like starclub or by pointing out what the T&C say, generally mean they need to check with someone higher up & find out they're wrong. Or can bypass that & politely asking to speak to someone higher up yourself. Or just saying okay & calling back later hopefully getting a different CSR.

Haven't heard of anyone who has completely been denied cancelling if they tried properly. As is common with forum discussions etc, have been people who said they had problems & were wondering if they were supposed to be able to cancel but never reported back on trying again. IMO these sort of problems aren't uncommon, CSR (including people in stores) are often misinformed or confused. Suspect by now a lot of people have done it so it's gotten easier as those misinformed/confused have learnt details if customer persisted.

When I tried on Monday (was hoping to get phone before cancelling), had no problem. Of course some people had the same early on so doesn't mean much. Still awaiting the final bill but the person quoted the expected price over the phone. I actually changed my SIM from postpaid to prepaid rather than cancel it completely. (I didn't really care much, told her I prefer prepaid so it's what she did. May be useful anyway.) Interesting was only offered a 10% discount to stay unlike someone was offered the $30 plan but wouldn't be surprised if that depends a lot on the CSR agent.

Same here, Nexus phones or CyanogenMod/Lineage OS were my go to choices since the very beginning of my Android life.

How do you find the AMOLED panel? I'm not really impressed by it although this is my first phone with AMOLED.

I like the screen - but my reference is a 4 year old nexus 5x

Ok W .T . F... I just called Vodafone to see why my order had not been dispatched yet and they told me that because when my order had been processed, my IP address was not in NZ (I was overseas!) But I got no error messages or anything, yet the website even said the order was confirmed! Now they're telling me I have to go and place a new order, but now the deal isn't as good as when I ordered it then, which gave me a free watch, plus $401 off!

So pissed off with Vodafone NZ.... absolutely useless and stupid!

Most importantly, was your credit card or account charged?

That would be the authorisation charge. They probably would only charge on shipping so should be ok (as in not being charged for something you didn't get).
