Kopkiwi: If we see it before April I'll be surprised

Surprised? lol..

God they only just managed it didn't they. Given just about every other major OEM has had it for at least weeks, if not months, this is embarrassingly pathetic from Samsung.

Considering they started their public beta test of Nougat back in November and went live in early Jan. I think it was actually a good effort especially given their extensive customisation of Android, also the vastly bigger userbase base than any other manufacturer or even model including Googles own devices means there's going to be a higher level of testing required.

HTC went early with their rollout for the 10 and had to halt it due to bugs.

I've had issues with Samsung updates in the past but I'm quite impressed this time around.

@salttlas: Just upgraded to 7.0 on 2degrees...Although the update didn't push through, when I checked manually yesterday it was available...Awesome.

So all up and running and really liking some parts for this version. Some great new features (double tap recent apps is awesome)...

However I do have some issues...

When I go into the settings windows, my top nofication bar icons disappear and the title for the settings window is unreadable (white on white).

Will try and upload a screenshot but haven't tried from phone before so hope this helps.

Hopefully you can see that there are no icons in notifications bar (you can see a faint black battery icon) and the word settings is white font on the white background.

I'm running nova launcher...

Any help appreciated

Looks like a weird theme issue, so try going to the Samsung theme store, download a random one and apply it then reboot and reapply the default one.

If that doesn't work then I'd advise making sure everything is backed up to Samsung Cloud/Google photos and then do a reset.

I have to say that doing a reset on a Samsung device is no longer a worry for me, I used to use root apps before the S7 to make sure I got everything backed up, now I've reset my S7 several times during the Nougat beta and then when it was finally released. It backed up everything that I cared about.

Texts, call logs, a lot of app settings/data.
Apps that won't allow backup like Whatsapp for example have their own backup/restore feature.

Thanks. I should have tried that. It was a weird theme issue. I went into the Theme store and set the default theme, and now we are good.

I have never done a reset on a device before, unless when selling and upgrading etc. I always fear i will loose something...although prob not important and not much different that getting a new phone.

Cheers

I'm on XSA firmware and I got a problem with Sammy's default keyboard. Whenever I try to access its settings the keyboard would froze. I installed Google's instead. That's the only bug I encountered so far.

Did you manually flash via Odin3 or did you do the OTA?  I remember when the nougat beta days, I had the same issue when I did the 'dirty' flash of the beta.

I think I just cleared data from the apps area and had to change language. If that fails, and you still want to use the sammy keyboard - do a factory reset (the great IT problem solver).

I did an Odin3 flash. It fixed itself btw, after I uninstalled google's keyboard. So all good now.

Received an update last night, a 29.x mb in size. I forgot to take a screenshot though.

What was supposed to be an afternoon of flashing the latest Spark version of Nougat via Odin, turned into an evening of installing the rooted Superman ROM with the TNZ (Spark) csc. How might this occur you might ask? Well sammobile servers are down for maintenance, sooo...

Things may have gone a bit smoother if I had remembered to back up to the Samsung account more recently than last November.
But I have to say things are running pretty smooth. The BTU version I flashed back in Jan had a few glitches, but everything seems to be in order in this modified 'stock' ROM.

Further to my post above. I'm really impressed with this ROM. It looks like I'll nearly make 48hrs with 4hrs screen time so far. Given that it's basically a stock rom with slight mods, is a pretty good experience all round. It seems the deep sleep functionality is working as it should, it was completely random on the ROMs i was running previous, stock MM then BTU Nougat. Somedays id be flat before sun down.

Is anyone else having issues with alarms not sounding since the update?

Seems my S7 is getting itself tied in knots with the audio system and if I don't reboot it before I go to sleep, then I don't get an audible alarm.  Which is not useful obviously.
I can only assume that it's somehow getting all confused between the various audio things running on it (for example, Spotify, running tracker apps, bluetooth audio vs phone audio) and then somehow muting the alarm output.

Nope, I haven't had any issues *at all* with mine. But, I did a clean install.

Also I've had no issues with mine since update. Maybe check your settings, sound then volume as now 4 separate settings and perhaps 1 turned off.

I had the same issue on the initial DPLT Nougat release. After Chromecasting the alarms would fire silently. The later OTA fixed the issue and I haven't seen it since.
