I am a relative novice with Android devices. I use an el cheapo 10.1 tablet (Thomson - http://www.warehousestationery.co.nz/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/WSL-B2C-Site/en_NZ/-/NZD/ViewOfferDetail-Product?CatalogCategoryID=SdMKBTFxm3oAAAE_kIY8Bz4c&ProductUUID=HI0KBTFxIIUAAAFH_lNoqEVF&JumpTo=OfferList) as a name greeting board at the airport. The app used is taxii pro. Android version is 4.2.2. All I want to do is use taxii pro to display a name when greeting pax - I don't use this tablet for anything else currently.
As with other Android hardware this unit auto-senses its orientation based on gravity - to display in either portrait or landscape orientation. I always hold the unit so it displays landscape orientation but the display is very slow to change to landscape from portrait.
Is there any easy way to force the display to permanently use landscape orientation? Looking through settings (device display and taxii pro in manage apps) I cannot find anything that seems likely to do this. Changing this for the device is OK but I would prefer to change it just for the app if possible.
Google searches show a number of options but all revolve around the androidmanifest file. I am looking for something simpler than this with no file editing involved.
