Using a Samsung S10 over the last week I don't seem to be getting notifications from Messenger until I open the app, meaning I'm seeing messages delayed. I haven't changed any settings and have checked notifications are enabled, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Anyone else had this happen or can suggest a fix or any other settings to check?

Go into Apps in Settings, delete cache and data. Login again, see how it goes.

Check the app isn't sleeping, or even in deep sleep.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

I've had message notifications coming through long after I'd read the messages recently. I receive very few messages (thankfully!), but I've constantly had issues with notifications coming through to the phone when I've already read them via the Web (which I tend to use). There should be a delay sending notifications out to other devices, particularly if you're actively using another client, but the delay yesterday was ridiculous.

Thanks for the tips. It's not sleeping or in deep sleep and only check messages on the one device so will try clearing the cache and data and see if that sorts it.

Clearing the cache and data didn't fix it, and even worse it turned out calls via Messenger were not coming through either and I was just seeing a missed call when I opened the app. This was particularly frustrating yesterday when my Dad was in hospital having some surgery and my Mum tried to call me several times via Messenger with updates and I only saw a missed call when I opened the app. Thankfully I was checking fairly regularly as I was waiting for it.

Last night I uninstalled and reinstalled the app again (had already tried that before posting), and also changed my Facebook password and that seems to have fixed it so fingers crossed it stays this way.

I find Facebook's software to be incredibly shoddy. I wouldn't be relying on it for anything important like that.

Yeah. It was a minor planned thing (a battery replacement in an implanted device) and not life or death or anything like that so she would have called via the normal phone network if needed, but frustrating that Messenger calls were not connecting.
