I restored my Eken M001 to factory settings and was left with a blank screen. Any hope?

I did that on one of mine when I first got it.
Finished up re-installing the firmware to get it back to the way it was before.

Probably worth having a look at slatedroid.com
Its a site dedicated to android pads.
The forum looks to have lots of posts on your sort of question.

Sorry - I dont own one - but know that site has a lot of info.

Its as simple as putting a folder on your SD card called 'script' (minus the quotes) and then put the extracted files of the firmware you download, into that directory.  Insert the SD card into your powered-down Eken and once it's inserted, power up the Eken.  It should then upgrade it's firmware/software using the image in that folder.

Make sure you have it running off AC power while you do this.

Cheers,
Grant

I put script in & powered up, but still nothing. However seller has offered to re-install operating system so given my lack of knowledge that's the safest option! Appreciate the help.

dudette: Please, how did you do that?

You download the firmware you need from a link at slatedroid.com and follow the instructions that were in the forum thread that pointed to it.

Basically, you use "7Zip"** to unzip the firmware archive, then copy the "\script" folder (including everything below it) to the root directory of the sdcard you use in the M001.

If the M001 isn't working, you can use some other device that lets you access an sdcard: an sdcard reader, a PC/laptop with an sdcard reader built in, another phone...whatever.

Then put the sdcard back into the m001 and turn it on. Make sure you have the power cable plugged in as battery dying in the middle of installing firmware can 'brick" your device. The M001 looks for \script every time you turn it on and installs whatever it finds in there.

** 7Zip keeps symbolic links that WinZip & WinRar throw away. So get 7Zip and be sure to use it to un-zip the firmware archives).

Some M001 devices are happy to use a \script on an already crowded sdcard. I've had two of those. They Other M001 devices won't do anything until \script is the ONLY folder on the sdcard. I've had one of those as well. Unfortunately, there is no way I know of to tell which M001 you have. It's pretty random.

For the full story go to slatedroid.com and do some reading. You can fix your M001 fairly easily once you know which firmware you want to install. My favourite is "Relax 2.0" by Lefeudedieu (lfd). With a swap partition defined onthe sdcard and the overclocking enabled, the M001 runs as well as it possibly can.
