With AirTouch and ducted systems sometimes it's best just to set it where you want it and leave it alone. A bit of on / off scheduling may be all that's required, particularly in the middle of winter / summer when only one mode is required.

Our house has a couple of rooms that get very hot on sunny days even in winter which means it's a bit more hands on, sometimes we need to cool some rooms then heat others.

Yeah scheduling doesn't allow you to set mode (heat/cool/etc) on the app. Which is crazy. You can do this with HA automations.

The annoying thing with HA is how the damper / itc modes operate. It's just not as intuitive as the app.

Just recalling now - The only reason I have damped a room is to make the unit quieter for the bedroom if I need it running overnight. At cool+low+100% it is too loud for me. Still quiet, but I can't handle it. I set to 20% or something and I can't hear it, and overflow into my main kitchen/dining.

I turn it into cooling mode for a while or until the sun goes down, then turn it to heating mode later. That works ok for us given how we use the house. We have a standalone heat pump in our kitchen / dining area, because of big windows and doors it's common for that area to need cooling while the rest of the house needs to be heated.

I did see the bypass / spill zone concern. We will have one AC upstairs and one downstairs which will likely help. "Multiple Ducted System".

Seems the group temperature can either be one sensor or an average. "AC Control Thermistor". I wonder if that contributes to the AC running when it doesn't need too (after key zones are at temperature). Just a thought I had.

In it some ways the optimal spill zone varies day vs night. At day, a spare bedroom. At night the study. The inverse could be unpleasant.

I find optical spill zone varies by mode rather than time of day.

You can set up the AirTouch to turn off the outdoor unit once each of the rooms has hit its setpoint, I put how in the other thread. The default is to turn off only when each room and the air conditioning return vent temperature reaches the setpoint. That change reduced overheating a little, but not as much as I'd hoped.
