wongtop: Windows updates (Patch Tuesday?)

I know people in similar situations who use multiple SIMs.  When the data is used up on one they just put the next one in.  It seems crazy that you can't just keep on buying more data on the same SIM, but instead revert to the overage rates.

I'm confused, I was previously able to purchase additional data packs to get extra data on a SIM. Are you saying this is no longer available? I'd be surprised.

Maybe they are on plans that have been grandfathered. It seems that on current plans you can indeed keep buying data.

debrisslide: They told me for privacy reasons they can't look at what caused the actual usage

That answer sounds like a CSR making up answers because they don't really know.

I suspect the true answer is that they can't tell you what caused the actual usage because they don't record enough detail about your usage to tell you.

Perhaps the NSA or GCSB can help?

I'm also on the 4GB + 4GB free plan and for the first time had a data over run for the first time ever. I didn't understand what the extra charge on my account was & when I rang up it was explained to me I'd gone over which surprised me. It was only thirty something dollars so I took it on the chin & paid the bill.

It's interesting to see someone else has had a similar experience on the same plan.. I also find it interesting that a month later we are getting letters today saying they are kicking us off that plan and are helpfully going to charge us more for less. Just great, now I have to go shopping around.

As I said if you PM me your details/number I can have a look and possibly give a general idea on what the useage was related to.

If you can keep buying topups, wouldn't it be great if the Telco simply charged you at the per mb rate until you reached the topup amount, then automatically credited uou with the topup data pack (less amount used)?

Thanks for the offer but I'll let it ride. If the "Telecom complex mobile technical team" can't figure it out, who can? I am ready to move on, can't wait for Spark! (insert Tui ad)

Have also received that letter, they dropped me back to 4gig at the end of the first two year period but reinstalled back to 4 + 4 free when I complained, after-all the original promo did not state that you reverted back to 4gig, now this sneaky move, 'due to some changes at our end, we need to update your mobile plan' yeah right
As we are totally mobile the reduction in data plus increase in price is not acceptable, I also am shopping around.

debrisslide: ... We are on a 4GB plan for 80 bucks and then an extra 4 for 30 bucks. ....

This is ridiculously expensive - I pay this much for unlimited cable 50/2mbps (typical usage 500 GB/month).
Why does mobile internet cost so much?
