I have some problems. I believe it is related to duplicated IPv6 address allocated by DHCPv6 (LAN side).

So, here is the setting I used for the WAN/Internet section of my router.

And here is the setting on the LAN side of things

And here is the sequence of events:

boot up my ipad, turn wifi on, it got an address of 2403:9800:xxxx:xxxx:yyyy:yyyy:yyyy:1000

boot up laptop #1, plug in LAN cable, got an address of 2403:9800:xxxx:xxxx:yyyy:yyyy:yyyy:1001

boot up laptop #2, turn on wifi, got an address of 2403:9800:xxxx:xxxx:yyyy:yyyy:yyyy:1002

boot up PC, plug in LAN cabel, got an address of 2403:9800:xxxx:xxxx:yyyy:yyyy:yyyy:1003

turn off wifi on laptop #2 (currently with 2403:9800:xxxx:xxxx:yyyy:yyyy:yyyy:1002). then plug in a LAN cable, it got an address of 2403:9800:xxxx:xxxx:yyyy:yyyy:yyyy:1000!!! Man, this is the IPv6 address the ipad was having.

And now, ipad have no IPv6 connectivity.

Sounds like a bug with the DHCP server on your router. It shouldn't be assigning the same IP address to multiple devices.

You could try changing to SLAAC for internal addressing. With SLAAC your router will announce on the LAN the IPv6 prefix of your connection, and each device will assign their own IP based on this.

You need to set your router to use DHCPv6-PD as the connection type for IPv6. Based on that screenshot it looks like it's configured for a tunnelling service, which won't allow native IPv6 from us.

Is there an advanced config area for IPv6 anywhere? If so, use it to set the connection type to DHCPv6-PD. If that isn't listed try automatic, or potentially native. If it doesn't have any of those options, check the Asus website for a firmware update, and apply it if there's one available. After the update check if you've got more connection type options.

If there aren't any firmware updates available, or after you update it the available options don't change, try factory resetting it. If after a factory reset you still don't have the correct connection type as an option, it looks like your router doesn't support the connection type we require for IPv6.

hey,

yeah in the WAN it shows I can select DHCP (or SLAAC), and DHCP PD is Enabled. Also have an option MLD Proxy, and that is set to Disable.

I also run all the ip dhcp off windows server 2012 instead of the modem/router - so will setup dhcpv6pd shortly.

Can you take some more screenshots and post them? Anything related to v6 in your router config.

Ideally the DHCP server and router will be the same device. I've yet to encounter a consumer grade router that'll allow native v6 connectivity with another device doing the LAN v6 address assignment.

@runningman - make sure you're running the latest firmware for your router, and then like IPv6pipe said, DHCPv6-PD is the goer - the default SHOULD work seamlessly.

Edit: Yep, it worked. Your screenshot above looks OK. If you set the connection type option on your original screenshot to Disable, and let your router run as the DHCP server, do your client devices obtain an IPv6 address?
If not, try setting the DHCP option to SLAAC. If you still don't get anything, fire up Wireshark and look for Router Advertisements - when your router is set to SLAAC it should be sending out advertisements with your IPv6 prefix.
