Log in to your router and look for a page that has your ADSL stats. This varies between different routers, but your are looking for your downstream speed. If you get stuck, post your router model here.
When you run the speedtest.xport.co.nz test, the speed should closely match your router sync speed (less maybe 10%). If not, then you know there is an issue between you & Xnet (e.g., exchange congestion, Xnet issue on handover etc).

As for tracert, open up a command prompt and type in:
tracert speedtest.xport.co.nz
Paste the results back here.

   Modem is  Dick Smith  XH1169   ( even looked at manual ).

 Maybe they could introduce an optional "off peak" plan. E.G. same plans as now, but say 50c per Gig off peak, $2 per Gig on-peak. That way it gives the big users the choice to do their big downloads cheaper in the quiet wee hours of the morning, thus even up the peak traffic a bit.

I'm not sure if their extra international bandwidth has kicked in yet, but shouldn't be too far off.

I like having one simple price, and XNET shaping my traffic during onpeak, and me blasting down data offpeak. :-)

Maybe limit P2P to like 30GB a month or something. Drive away all those slowing it down for the rest of us.

I strongly disagree. This is where XNET Gets it right, and everyone else gets it wrong, they treat all data equally and charge it like a toll call.

Other ISP's see data as a problem to manage, XNET see's it as a sales opportunity - if users want to buy a product (Data) when why not sell it to them???

When they do have the capacity, it works perfectly, some months I'm happy to chew through 200GB and pay for it :-)

On other ISP's they have crippled their network so much I actually struggle to use the product I've paid for.

And as we all pay for volume (amount of gigs downloaded), it is unfair to restrict heavier users.
And is perhaps a preferred customer.  Creates more $$$.
