johnr: Going from prepay to on Account would have to be done in store (ID required , credit checks)

Not sure about going other way!

I just talked to a Vodafone CSR and they said cannot do OA to Prepay yet but not too far away now.  Here's hoping!

What Grant is describing is Postpaid (on account) -> Prepaid, not prepaid to Postpaid (On Account).

Please don't use caps excessively, its like SHOUTING.

I can confirm that you transfer from prepay to on-account (and vice versa) from today. FYI, Porting is when you move carriers so don't go into a store and say you want to port your number as you might end up joining the dark side Tongue out

I've yet to get confirmation as to whether you can transfer a prepay into a Corporate or Government account. I would suspect not sadly, due to the complexity of those accounts against what a prepay is set up like but, if anyone is interested, I'll keep trying to find out.

If this is the case Brent, could you please tell me the correct person to call at Vodafone (PM the details to me if necessary) so I can get this sorted by the end of the week.  Next week is going to be extremely busy and I would really like to get it done tomorrow or Friday.

It seems that you get different answers depending on whom you talk to at Vodafone.  My calls to 777 always go through to the Business (OA) team, but I am being told different things to you.  If you can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Grant.

Interesting..

If you have moved your number from Postpay to Prepay or Prepay to Postpay you will be unable to do Mobile Number Transfer or Transfer of Title in the future.

So this means, if I move my Prepay number to On Account and find another job who pays for my phone, I wll be unable to transfer my number into that companies account...

Sounds like you can move from Prepay to On Account but then you're stuck in the account you first specify, no transfers between companies, what If I had my number under a company account and changed jobs - I would have to disconnect my phone number and LOSE it because its "prepay".

But i'd prefer to have my number in my name, so I DEFINITLY know i can keep my number.
None of this "your number belongs to us, clients have your number..." nonsense

But you have to member that if you put your prepaid number on contract you can not go back on to prepaid again, you would be stuck with an on account unless you cancel your on account you would loose your number too.
i reackon that vodafone has done research if they let people change there on account number to prepaid number they would loose heaps, of on account customers = less profit for the year

My prepay number is finally being changed to on account number, today at noon my mobile went offline for the changes to take place and I have been advised that it will take upto 48 hours to make the change. Until then, my mobile will remain inactive.

Quite strange method to make the change, I guess, someone is manually copying my data from one server to another using either low speed disks or whatever method. Vodafone is quite advanced in their technologies and processes :-)

Update on the progress of the change of prepay to OnAccount. I called the Vodafone store and also visited the store to check the status of my A/C, the update I have received is that it is still "In Progress". The delay is because there is large number of requests that is being migrated from Prepay to OnAccount. My phone is switch off for over 24 hours now. Hope they can achieve it soon.

My prepay to onaccount activation is not yet complete. It has been 4 days now since the phone is switched off and I have made several calls to customer support and only received apologies and sending out urgent emails to technical support.
The first reason that I received was that the setup was not done in the right manner in the first place, I confirmed with another Vodafone retailer, who advised me that it could be done in 15 minutes and sold me another SIM card, but he too was not successful. I have informed vodafone customer service of my plight and I found them to be very friendly and understanding, but unfortunately no results. I shall vist the store during my lunch break to check of the progress....

Are there similar experiences of others who have made such change?
