I like the updating message, Don't turn off your PC, this will take a while. Off and on its taken 2 days so far. If I try updating online it gets stuck at 14%, if I try updating via ISO it gets stuck at 19%. Have tried disconnecting unnecessary USB stuff, disabling (though not removing) antivirus and disconnecting from internet while updating. Any other ideas before I maybe try some of the more involved fixes suggested ?

these logs would be the starting place

$windows.~bt\Sources\Panther

$windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback

%WINDIR%\Panther

Took a virtual copy of my physical Windows 10 laptop running 1511 and performed a test upgrade to 1703 using the Enterprise ISO (and system was offline)

Just as @nathan had mentioned, it did not reinstall all the Microsoft Apps I had removed (though I did add in all the new apps that were introduced into 1703); however nothing else went to plan and so I abandoned the idea of doing a real update of my physical laptop and when the time comes, and will opt for a new installation using my custom MDT environment.

if you don't want the new apps, mount your WIM file and Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage to remove the apps before you do the upgrade.

Thanks Nathan. Can open those logs. No idea what to actually look for unfortunately.

^ can confirm above re: support.  Just don't let them charge you for antivirus, do accept their statement that there *may* be a requirement for paid support as they'll provide the support regardless.  Just don't hand over your CC#

Thanks. Hopefully Nathan can have a look if he's got time otherwise will try support or maybe a clean install.

In the meantime, anyone know if removing Norton, as opposed to just disabling it, actually makes a difference ?

Good to know, though I have created a Powershell script that does the job after install (for users logged in and for any future users)

got my first BSOD with creator! xxxwifi.sys crash!

interestingly, it appeared to restart the computer instead of appearing to terminate the OS abruptly - although I am sure the OS did not "shut down" properly

Again, today, Edge decided to takeover my Adobe Acrobat DC association with .PDF files.

Again I right-clicked the file and changed the default app to open that file type.

And now when Adobe Acrobat opens the file Windows decide to show the Photo Viewer app icon in the taskbar, instead of the correct Adobe Acrobat DC icon:

I understand this may be a problem with the Adobe Acrobat app, as explained by Raymond Chen on his blog Why do my PDF file associations get reset every time I restart? but seriously annoying as it seems Microsoft doesn't have any pull/influence over large software publishers. Surely they contacts at high level to sort this kind of stuff?

Anyone has issues with computers not showing up under "Networks"? Can't get my computer to show up. All my computers show up randomly, sometimes showing sometimes not.

After a year of this I've given up trying to fight it...
I've added the apps I need to open PDF,PNG,GIF,TXT to the right click menu and stopped using a double click to open files.
A little more inconvenient but at least I can depend on it working.

is this new to v1703

what are you trying to achieve?

NetBIOS computer browsing has never ever been reliable for me for the past 20 years.  I just map a drive direct to the \\host or \\ip.addr

What am I trying to achieve? to see the files on my other computers without installing other things.

I think it was the router this time - someone was torrenting hundreds of connections at that time and once they stopped the computers were all visible. Weird.
