ADSL will be fine. Not after huge speeds.

We ordered anything that can get us any form of internet, apparently both types of ports are full. Vodafone suggested dial up in the end too...

I checked on the Chorus website and the upgrades planned for our area are:

  • UFB fibre up to 100 Mbps between Jul-2015 and Jun-2016

I understand that we may have to wait for an upgrade but that just seems ridiculous considering we moved just down the road and now we're on a long list of people. Surely it isn't hard to connect 11 more people to the internet if you do so by adding cards? I know I may sound ignorant but I'm new to this and am having trouble understanding how these houses have been hear for years and years and yet the infrastructure for internet isn't even able to cope with it.

If adding 11 customers was easy it would be done.

His area is definitely a VDSL port waiter but ADSL im not too sure,  It was cabinetised a few years ago with the main project.

In regards to connecting the 11 people, I just assumed they wouldn't go about doing much unless someone made a fuss, wouldn't prioritise the street for connectivity unless more people asked them.

All the providers we spoke to said that all ports are full for all types of internet connection.

TimA, how can we find out if it is 100% true that we can't even get ADSL?

Well if you ordered ADSL with slingshot you are waiting for ADSL, If VDSL... I doubt its an ADSL waiting area but there is always that possibility.

The list of 11 people waiting would normally trigger Chorus to add another line card within a couple of weeks, if that were the only issue. It suggests there is a bigger infrastructure issue - wait and see what TimA comes back with if you've flicked him your address.

For chorus to add more broadband theyll need into install another ISAM and rack (which depending on the cabinet might no fit) .

If there is room to install a new one of them is 60k which isnt a good investment for 11 people

If the issue is just a VDSL2 port waiter it'll potentially be solved within a few weeks.

Just off the phone with slingshot again to confirm on their side that there is no availability for any type of broadband connection, they said 114 days of waiting at least, for a port.

Sucks :(
One of those spots a 200-300 port cabinet or how many so just doesnt cover every last lot.
