spetsnaz1: ok i understand your point its just how i write and do in most forums and such and most people seem to understand me. I was in a rush so yes you might not understand it sometimes and im sorry its just who i am i have grown with it like that. I will try my best now to explain. I apologise if you cant read it cause english is my second language and i have no problem with it ive been living here for 12 years now but yes i do write this at school and i do bad at english. But enough with personal stuff im just still waiting for an answer for this question.

No there is no way to use dialup and phone call on the same line at the same time.

I am intrigued to learn that your first language does not support frequent capitilisation of the first letter of a sentence or the use of paragraphs.

'Its just how I write' is no excuse, especially since you originally said the the reason you were like this was just because you were in a rush at work.

The way I see it you have a few options.

a) Try another broadband company apart from Telecom eg Orcon, Worldxchange, slingshot.

b) Make/buy a wi-fi usb card and see who provides wireless internet to your area.

c) Keep to your dial-up plan.

All of the providers who wholesale broadband will use Telecom at the exchange or cabinet, so if they can connect him, he'd be able to connect through Telecom.

I can sympathise with your situation because I have 2 sons who have been using the internet since they were about 10 years old. They are both hard-core gamers and if we couldn't get broadband for 4 years, it would drive them crazy

So, I would like to make a helpful suggestion. You mentioned that some of your friends have used Wireless and have had bad experiences. From your description, it sounds like Woosh Wireless. Does their aerial look like a Candlestick which is coloured black?

Woosh is just one type of wireless internet connection. There are several others, and from my experience, I think you should forget about wired broadband, and use Telecom's Mobile Broadband. You need to buy one of these:

It plugs into your USB port and in Dannemora, you should experience download speeds of at least 1Mbps which is around 50x faster than dialup

Here is what it will cost:

$199 + GST ($223.87) to sign up on a 2-year contract.

$49.95 + GST ($56.19) per month for 1GB of data, or $10 + GST ($11.25) extra if you use up to 2GB.

If you use more than 2GB per month, it will get terribly expensive, so DON'T do it!!!

But right now you are on dial-up, so 2GB of data per month should be plenty more than you need.

What do you think about this idea?

tonyhughes: no harsh feelings mate but just please dont be too rough on me i am not mr perfect while i still try my best to improve my grammar dont be too harsh on me, but thanks for your help i apperciate it, thanks for answering my question im really sorry if my grammar disappoints you, "no one is perfect", i still try my best just forgive me im not trying to get myself banned or anything im here to ask for some help i didnt want any trouble with anyone if im still making mistakes then i dont know what to do seems that im not doing well eh?Just what really dissappoints me is that my grammar seems to be more a matter of importance than my problem, no offense but that is just my opinon and i would just like it to stop from here, please leave grammar aside for now, i know many adults who have grammar errors and i they would be dissappointed if someone had told them they have to write so perfectly when they try there best, >> "practice makes perfect"<< , though i still try improve my grammar there is no reason to act so harshly towards a person with bad grammar, sure im not a perfect writer ive had trouble with english grammar so if its still a problem to you then it seems you dont want to listen. Plus the 2gb isnt enough but thanks anyway, is there any cheaper plans or plans for $30-60 with wireless and that have a 15-30gb cap, i wouldnt mind the upload speed as im not a uploader anyway , any fast enough plan that has a good cap with around 15-30gb and a 256kbit download speed im fine. i checked the plans at xnet and i was pretty blasted with the prices there but they not wireless :( . Reason i dont want wireless is because many people i know and many gamers have problems with it because it has bad stability and disconnection issues. But ill find out more about it i just wondering if i can get a better deal?

f you have line of site to the Otahuhu Substation transmission site then you could ditch Telecom all together with a VoIP offering.

Sometimes in life there are things that we want, but we can't get. There are other parts of Auckland like Swanson, Greenithe
Pt Chev that some people can't get Broadband. Also Telecom are not lying to you. Yes people around you may have
broadband, but they could be connected via a Cabinet. Try Orcon or Xnet and see what they say.

In this case, I don't see how you could use more than 2GB per month, because the transfer speed on dial-up is so slow.

On my internet plan, my wife and I usually don't use more than 2GB and yet we use the internet all day and until about midnight every night for our work and hobbies. Our main usage is e-mail and web surfing, on-line forums etc.

There are 3 main ways you will exceed 2GB per month:

1) Peer-to-Peer downloads via Bit Torrent, Limewire etc
2) Watching a lot of YouTube videos
3) On-line gaming all day / every day

Sure, I know you are a keen gamer, but you do go to school every week day don't you?

My 2 sons play a lot of on-line games and their usage, together with their sister is about 3GB per month unless they download something large like ISO files, game update patches etc.

Anyway, those are just my suggestions -- I don't know enough about your situation to know if it will work out or not.

Whatever you do, I wish you all the best with your studies and hope that you can find a way to get off dial-up and onto broadband

ok ok i get you , I wont say sorry i was just upset that tony seemed like he didnt care about my opinon and I just wanted to apologise for the mistakes I did which werent on purpose, heck if this is so harsh I might as well not post here anymore,i dont see how this forum judges people by how perfect their grammar rather than helping them out ( No offense ) , I really would like if you guys stop commenting about my grammar I just think enough is enough you have told me many times. Quit bugging me about it im not a perfect typer. i would really wished you guys would stop judging my grammar, it just dissappoints me to see some of you treating me poorly cause of my grammar. i am on dial unlimited plan , and im on 12 week holiday i have 10 weeks off school left, and im sad to hear i can not get a cheaper deal, i just feel like a 2gb is not worth $50 when i can get a wired broadband at 15gb at same price and faster internet speed, i am not currently at school and didnt do exams due to my grand fathers funeral 2 weeks ago, i work at my fathers but i usually dont get payed much and i plan to get a good job later,but i just feel as if its a rip off paying $90 for a 6gb deal? is there any other options besides wireless and satelite, can u buy ports?

But the thing is, you can't get wired broadband. Grant has given you a viable alternative. $50 for 1GB and 60 for 2GB is not a bad deal for mobile data.

If you PM me some details, I will try and have a look to see why you can't get ADSL.

I'll just answer you....

Yes, it is possible. Mainly with the use of software, like this: http://www.internet-call-waiting-software.com-http.com/how-to-receive-phone-calls-when-using-dialup-modem-to-internet.html It basically puts your dialup internet connection "on hold", while you pick up the other call..... Works ok, but not flawlessly....

As for your forum posts... Just press "enter" twice after every 3-4 sentences you type, ok??? That should be easy enough, and other forum users would think your grammar is just fine....

Victor I hope nzbnw can get you some help getting adsl, it will be the cheapest route for you.

As for the grammar, it may not be your point of interest, for most kids (boys in particular) they could not give a damn, however you will do youself a big favour if you used some structure to your writings. As it is most folk will just ignore your posts as they are too hard to read as they have absolutely no structure.

Break your thoughts into clear sentences and group sentences into logical paragraphs. Things like applying capitilisation may seem irrelivent to you, however if you want folk to take you seriously then you must apply some basic grammatic rules. You might surprise yourself that by structuring your writing you can express yourself in less words than by just charging at it.

All the best in getting your broadband sorted, if you cannot get ADSL then for a budget option taking up the home brew WiFi route may well work for you.
