I think you will find that they haven't locked in any wave 2 countries yet until supplies settle down in the wave 1 countries. Maybe this time around they were unsure of demand coupled with a known severe supply shortage for the 5S. This is all my own speculation though as I've not read this info anywhere.

Given 5C supplies seem plentiful, I'm surprised they haven't staged the release of this handset elsewhere. This may help boost sales to those too impatient to wait for the 5S.

I am not surprised they are plentiful. Don't know anyone who wants the 5C, I mean it is basically a year old phone in a cheap plastic case and the samsung s4 is probably cheaper.
The 5S however is someting that people do want, and with the new finger printer scanner, it is a no brainer that people would buy this over the 5C as the price premium isn't that much over the 5C. I had heard the 5s is outselling the 5C 4 to 1, which you wouldn't normally expect the opposite when you sell a lower priced item.

I'm a little hesitant to post this after my last information ended up being completely wrong, but apparently a few people in Denmark are saying 18/10.

I'm sure the second wave will be announced when Apple holds their iPad\Mac event sometime this month. I'll be wanting to buy outright this time round so I suspect it'll be well into November before I can get my mitts on one direct from Apple.

It will be interesting to see whether any of the big box retailers have them available on launch. I have noticed that Harvey Norman now sell iPhones outright, but JB Hifi still only seem to do them on contract.

Either way I guess buying direct from Apple will be quicker and easier if you want to buy outright on the launch date.

In previous years Apple have given carriers first dibs, and in turn they then only sold to those signing to new contracts.

Between Red being stupidly expensive with not enough data, and Telecom not launching just yet, I feel there's too much on the radar in the 4G realm to sign up to something for 2 years, or even 1 year for that matter.

November seems to me like a more likely time frame. The discussion linked to above suggests that there are a lot of European countries who are still awaiting the launch, and the reality is that they are probably a higher priority than NZ.

An October launch would be nice, but my 4S is working fine so I'm in no hurry.

Last time around, we were in the same "wave" as the second set of European countries.

"iPhone 5 will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries on September 28, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland."

Since most americans think NZ is apart of Australia we should just be included with Australia in wave 1.

I'd rather wait than to be classified as apart of Aus ;)

the iPhone 5S page on Wikipedia shows it coming out here on the October 17!, along with Austria, Brazil, Greece, India, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and South Africa. However, it says citation needed.

I know wikipedia is not always reliable and trustworthy, but I really hope this is true.

I can't see this on the Wikipedia page today so it must have been removed (and hence untrue).
