Fritzbox now updated to latest version. New speed test to 2degree Christchurch:

Better speed but this is about the time we get our normal speed back for the last couple of evenings.

Could be some congestion somewhere but not throttling

What is actually impacted?

We have 3 gamers in the house, when the speed falls below 10Mbps its game over! The reduced speed is very noticable andconsidering I pay for 1000Mbps download I am not getting the service promised. I will see what 2degrees has to say about it tomorrow, their service is non existent, 3 online requests for service have gone unanswered, calls are hopeless, all that is left is a visit to the local shop. I will post a responce from them tomorrow.

not aware of any issues in Nelson, or anywhere else for that matter. if it is fine during most of the day, but then slow at other times it could be due to local PON saturation, remember GPON is a shared network.

if you call into the care team they should be able to diagnose and if suitable get the LFC to possibly swap your PON segment.

This is extremely unlikely.
I can count on one hand how many times this has actually been an issue and even then it was a very specific scenario.. We do monitor PON utilisation, along with the utilisation of every other port in our network.

Then why is the same pattern repeating for the last 3 nights in a row? Sunday, Monday we did chew through a lot of data, 20 to 30GB then we started with the slow evenings.

Next time it happens, try isolation testing within your network.

Have everyone turn off their devices. Turn them on 1 by 1 till the issue (speedtest drops below the daytionme specs) occurs -  if its occurs straight away, start with another device.

Basically see if one of your devices is saturating the network for some reason

I am having the issues 3 nights in a row with internet download speeds around 5MBPS but upload is still full speed. 5.30pm okay, by 7pm through to about 10pm my speed is throttled. Same pattern last 3 nights. Sent three requests for service but no answers. Time to pay them a visit!

Anyone else having issues?

Use references to what is being paid for and promised loosely in those sorts of emails.

Far as I can tell the min legislation guarantee is still only 3Mbps. With chorus saying average peak of 850 across-the-board(dec 2022) but they don't label minimums.

2D themselves only quote averages.

**Estimated national peak time average speeds. The speed you experience at any given time may be higher or lower than these averages and depends on factors including the performance of your modem, location of the server, your computer/phone and how your wifi has been setup.

Good to know! just working through the various points where it could be getting some congestion as the handover and upstream are all good from a quick high level view.

Ookla speed test. Speed is normal anyother part of the day, but 7pm to about 10pm its like this below. Sounds like throttling to me!

there's a difference between throttling and congestion. If you look at the official offer summary for your BB product - that will tell you with legal certainty whether 2D are throttling you.

Cheers - N
