I’ve notice with 2degrees that we are put on Slingshot DNS servers. Are there any differences between Orcon and 2degrees/Slingshot DNS servers or should both services be the same?

Slingshot is part of the Vocus group along with Callplus, all the same company. See my previous post from wikipedia.

I know their the same company. Strange that all the Vocus internet providers don’t use the same DNS server so wondering if routing is different with each Vocus internet provider.

Any idea what would happen to the likes of Orcon and Slingshot. Will they merge those two brands under 2degrees or will 2degrees keep them seperate similar to Spark and Skinny?

Franklinopdenbuysch:

I will try and explain the fix:

Log into Fritzbox

Select Account Information

Change internet service provider to Callplus

Connect via: Select connection to an external modem or router

Operating mode: Select establish own connection to the internet

Account Information: Select no

Connection Settings Downstream 999 Upstream 999 (My guess this depends on your account as to what speed you have in your plan)

VLAN Settings: Tick Use Vlan for internet access Vlan ID 10 PBit 0

IP Settings tick Obtain the IP address automatically (DHCP)

DHCP host name fritz.box

Then at the bottom tick Check the internet connection after "Apply" has been clicked.

I understand that you only do this once your account has been transferred to Callplus?

I hope this helps others, cheers F

I was wondering why lately my work account (MS Office web apps) in a browser is slow to respond and I wonder if it is this issue as I am with 2degrees, and have Ethernet plugged in. Sometimes VPN on, sometimes not - still same behaviour. Other websites / apps load OK.
Sorry to "bump" this thread but I would like some assurance that I should try out the above changes? I have already been into Fritzbox and upgraded it. Still no improvement to my work-specific MS office apps on a browser.
Or is this potentially a different issue?

You could try, since 2degrees is moving to DHCP and things will need change at some point.

Make a backup if your router supports it :)

2 Degrees finally responded to my original request for support concerning the issues I have raised in this thread, 14 days after I orginally emailed for support. Here is what they said:

"Thank you for your email.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are having. I can understand how frustrating this can be. I'd love to look into this further and see what I can do to help.

Please let us know what your issues are with being throttled for 3 nights in a row. If you can send us 2-3 examples of this happening, we will be able to further assist you.

Otherwise, if you want to speak to a real person, call our friendly team on 0800 022 022. We’re open Monday – Saturday 8am – 8pm, Sunday & Public Holidays 10am – 8pm.

Kind regards"

Posting in this forum got the help I needed in a few days, I think 2 Degrees have a long way to go with regards to customer service.

Once again thanks to all those who helped, the service has been perfect since.

Their customer service was excellent a while back and was one of their best features.
