Can indeed. You just flash an older version the same way as you flashed the new one.

On my LG the software said their was an update and it happened, I didn't flash anything. Once it was done there was nothing offered to go back, does Samsung support rolling back on their phones?

hi can i ask a couple of questions re current state of roms:

1) i have a 9100T ... is my phone prone to poorer 3g and poorer battery life?

2) i have cognition 1.42 rom (2.3.4) ... will there be improvement in battery life OR modem with 2.3.6?

3) (can i just flash the 2.3.6 modem on to mine?)

4) when will Ice Cream Sandwich be available?

I have a T model also and I went through these exact questions before so I will help with as much as I know so far.

1) Yes in regards to flashing a modem that works poorly your phone uses more battery. With a good modem and remembering to use 3g and wifi only when you need it the 1900T is no worse or better than other models.

2)I would suggest using one of the other popular roms suited towards standard I9100 such as Dlev, Checkrom Revolution, Rarity and so on because Cognition 2.3.5/6 is designed with the i777 US model in mind. These "slimmer" roms have a vast improvement in battery life due to the removal of bloatware.

3) From testing the different modems XXKG5 XXKG2 KI4 KI8 so forth I have always ended up back on the DOKG2 telecom specific modem (I posted a link on the first post page 154 CWM flashable) it gives me about 4mb down and 500kb up compared to 1.2mb and 200kb on other modems. Modems though are tricky and depend entirely on the area you are in so your testing can find different results.

4) ICS officially has a release date around Q2 2012 for SGS2

I'm actually using the I9100T DOKG2 modem on my international I9100. Seems to work fine, not that I've really put it through it's paces. I'd previously used Kg5.

Recent speedtests.. On KI4 via Dlev's 3.1 Rom.. I9100T purchased from Telecom, Palmerston North.

Interesting I was in Auckland last week and the down speeds were on average lower, however the up speed averaged around 1.5 Mb/s.. Unsure why.

Today's battery usage off the charger 40% left.. I'm pretty happy with this. Gmail activated 24/7 push, FB, Twitter updates, some video playback and a bit of browsing.. a few phone calls.. a few texts.. a few voice texts via HeyTell.. and a bit of mp3 playback.. Screen on time is 2 hours and 35 minutes.

Finally made the move from Lite'ning ROM 6.1 XXKH3 to CheckROM Rev HD 3.1.1 XWKJ3. whew!

Took better side of 2 days to get everything organized post the swap. Would have been much quicker but i was working over the weekend so.. Can already see a massive improvement in battery life. I am using the same kernel ninphetamine 2.0.5 that I had with Lite'ning. Reason being this is the only other kernel I have tried apart from stock (with or without CF root) Maybe I should try some other like Siyah 2.1 but am not into any messing with the CPU speeds. Any tips if I should or should not try a different one and if yes, which one would suit? Changed modem from XXKI4 to XXKG5 based on reports here and elsewhere. Pretty good so far.

Really impressed by the way a few apps helped me smoothly transition across, not 1 problem encountered, used Titanium backup pro for apps, sms backup & restore, ofcourse the good ol' CWM for nandroid backups and the phone didn't miss a beat!!!

One question : While I was on Lite'ning, I had moved a few apps (games etc) from phone memory to ext SD. Since the transition, I have restored all apps (apps + data) using TiBu, although not all have installed to ext SD as they should have. Some still show correctly as being installed on the SD but not all which I had originally.

Furthermore, the external SD usage has not decreased a bit, the app memory (which is 2.00 GB i think) has gone up from 400 something MB to 650 now. This makes me believe the app data on the ext SD is as is and still holding on to disk space basically doubling up. Try to move those apps again to ex SD, I get an error message. Doing this through Settings > Manager Applications (Android default) not something like app2SD.

Any suggestions guys?

wow amazing learnt so much! now it explains why my network speeds are so Sh#$$y ... flashed modem.bin off my network specific (VFAU) tar file and immediately noticed more stable connection (it used to drop off randomly every few seconds!) ... now will go outside the apartment block and see if the speeds improve from miserly 500kbps (note i'm in melbourne central for goodness sake!)

now i might start liking the s2 afterall ... the iphone 4S has been gently calling me ....

CRR 3.1.1 and silyah don't necessarily require messing with CPU speeds. Reportedly, simply setting the governer to smartassv2 should be sufficient for getting benefits (I am in the process of trying this myself), otherwise, try speedmod from the kitchen if you absolutely don't want to have to use setCPU.

One question : While I was on Lite'ning, I had moved a few apps (games etc) from phone memory to ext SD. Since the transition, I have restored all apps (apps + data) using TiBu, although not all have installed to ext SD as they should have. Some still show correctly as being installed on the SD but not all which I had originally.

Had you taken backups since you moved them? Older backups don't necessarily disappear when you move apps, so TiBu might be seeing them as separate applications, trying to install both and getting the applist confused - or some variation thereof. I haven't done much experimentation here, but it seems possible. In any event, you might be better off removing what traces you can find and re-installing, plus clearing out any old records in TiBu.

dear all geeks, ESP those flashing dlev roms ...

when it says flashing will WIPE, does it wipe the internal SD card? i don't have an external sd card to back up my doc, apps and data, but i want to try the Dlev rom ...

I know when I accidently flash mine without backuped ;( it didnt wipe all the pics, music and files excep the apps. But interestingly, all the app's file directory is still there!

2) guys - dumb question everytime you upgrade the dlev rom you have to restore everything via titanium backup ... but some of the stuff is new - if you restore everything doesn't it defeat the purpose??? or do you NEVER backup the system stuff, only your personal apps???

3) please confirm i can store backups on internal SD

Yes mine is Dlev 3.1 n Siyah2.1

Flashing Rom is not related to apps of any type. I am assuming you are talking some sys app required restoring. The only thing you do need to reinstall is Tit back up after you flash. And it should restore all your previous installed apps: both personal and system types.

Havnt restore anything yet via Tit backUp. As i dont have a ext SD card, I am assuming TiBu uses the internal SD for backing up and restore.
