i think it's Dlev 3.1 rom with KI4 modem and siyah 2.1 kernel .... which i have just flashed .... there is definitely noticable lag when touching the screen compared with my previous cognition 1.42 (ZERO noticable lag, but they've stopped developing properly since 2.3.4)

there seems to be endless amount of samsung bloatware with my new flash - at first i thought it was my titanium backup restoring junk, so i wiped my entire titanium backup OS backups ... and still the same, but they're now gone ...

hopefully the battery life will be better now ... will let you know

Can someone confirm for me that a stock rom in a single .tar file is the same, irrespective of whether the file is a .tar or a .tar.md5 (i.e. that you flash them via Odin in the same way?)

Another n00b question I know, but it’s been a while since I flashed anything stock!

The md5s I have downloaded I just remove the .md5 and end up with tar. I can't say for every rom.

But you can check coz when you double click the tar it will reveal its contents in winrar if you have winrar.

I would like to say I was about to jump ship to iPhone 4s ... Until ... Dlev rom with siyah kernel and launcher pro and jkay deluxe customization! Made me able to customize it 99% of how I want the galaxy to appear .... EXCEPT ... I would like an icon to lock screen instead of the unremovable ugly widget. And why isn't there a better camera firmware or even app?

Warning!

Dolphin Browser chew up power if you dont do a proper exit!

After puzzling me for the past 2 days watching battery drain like crazy: 30% within  5 hours from 1am to 6am for supposedly deep sleep running i.e. no wifi, bluetooth, gps no nothing etc, I tried uninstall all sort of things that I thought it could be crewing the juice. Even after checking the betterbatterystats still didnt tell me it's the dolphin web that cause it. I exit the dolphin via exit confirmation rather than home button and the craziness stopped! I did have a webpage opened that i wanted to read offline on sunday and never shut it properly and that's when power draining started......

So I am not sure if this also will happen to your stock browser or any other browsers on the market!

Are you talking about a screen off icon instead of pushing power button? There are plenty on the market to use. Mine is call screen off and lock and it works great

Go laucher locker has some cool locker theme.

What would you like your camera to do? If you wanted a better camera phone, you should have gone to SE Arc. It's a camera made into a phone!

joker97, There are many camera apps to choose from like camera360, paper camera, HDR camera+ all in the market. I like camera360 the best so far. I took this at the SA vs Fiji world cup game using the selective colour shift mode. At full size it puts out a nice 3mb file (scaled down for forum) no editing needed.

On the other hand if you wanted to update the stock camera "firmware" here are some modded apks cwm flash-able. Since I know you are using Dlev (KI4) I supplied the Leomar mod (He is the co creator of Checkrom) and if that doesn't take you can try the KJ3 modded apk and see if its better.

These mods roughly add these features:
Camera Hack record at any battery level
Camera Hack (take pictures by pressing VOL + / - ) not only for video capture
Camera Hacked MOD (Better sound 64kbps/16khz -192kbps/44.1Khz compared to standard)

Remember to back at your existing camera apk with root explorer.

Has anyone else been having problems with wifi tethering? Starts fine, PC connects fine... but data stops flowing after 10-15 seconds. Windows 7 reports "Limited Connectivity". Yet data still works fine on the SGS2.

If you have, have you fixed it? What did you do?

thanks for the camera thing ... but in the iphone there is camera+ where you can select focus point separate from exposure point separate from white balance point ... but yeah that's an aftermarket app so can't compare,

however my problem was mainly with video recording:
- no motion stabilizer - i can't watch my recordings on tv coz it makes me nauseated - super shaky, worse than an earthquake
- can't select focal point ... it randomly decides to focus and sometimes doesn't decide

off thread topic
and i don't like the colour tinge on the samsung AMOLED ... is it greenish/bluish/yellowish tinge or something ....

but apart from that ... it's faster than my netbook!
