My SGS2 arrived yesterday.

after reading this forums for the past couple of weeks, since its arrived ive kept and eye on the Andriod OS battery usage.
When i went to bed last night, the phone had been on for about 5 hours, and the Display usage was at about 70%....which seemed fair seeing as out of that 5 hours, id had the screen on for about 4 hours of it.

however when i woke up this morning, things had changed. as of thisafternoon (right now) 16h 25minutes up ive 31% battery remaining, Andriod OS 29%, Display 25%, Maps 21%
concidering im sick as today and have spent most of the day sleeping, i havnt used the display bugger all.
Everything except bluetooth has been turned on the whole time. - im guessing having GPS on is why map usage is so high? Ill do a Kies update after the phone has gone completely flat.

Cheers for the link, i find the v2 beta a bit nicer than the v1 release tbh. You know you don't need to let it see your emails and so on right? You just tell it you don't want to learn from those sources... as such it'll just take a little longer for it to get used to your writing style.

Thanks to NZTechFreak's blog I ordered and received my USB OTG cable today, and it works beautifully enabling access to memory sticks etc.
I ordered one designed for the Nokia N810 and has the required Micro USB B plug. US$4 and delivered in 8 days from HK.

Yeah i've been using netflix and bbciPlayer since I got the phone through my VPN's. It's perfectly acceptable for me but my VPN speeds aren't awesome so that hurts the quality.

I did my update through Kies yesterday morning and it didn't take more than 5 or 6 minutes to go through first time.

On a side note, my phone decided that it wanted to enable flight mode in the middle of a phone call today, just a little frustrating to say the least.

Has anyone else had this issue at all?

It's something I am also keeping an eye on. It is a very high %, but the battery lasts a decent time (15hrs before 20%). Hoping there will be a fix and will get even more battery time. After 10 hrs, my battery is still at 63% today.

KE7 update is now out. Still people having issues with Android OS though, but there are claims of better GPS (and worse...) and better battery life.
Source has instructions and links for files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

There are several posts on xda saying the Android OS battery drain is because of 2.3.3 and a fix is coming with 2.3.4
I seem to be ok with the battery life but after ke7 I still get high percentages of time with no signal.

Re using Odin to flash KE7, I have downloaded Odin and KE7 from XDA, can someone tell me whether the extracted tar goes in the bootloadler or PDA field as its only a single file?

Edit. I have both the kernel and the firmware files by the way.
