adamvnz: @K1000716 are you still on Omega? I was using it last. The reason I stopped was I found that the AP News widget was always loading in the background (used Wheres My Droid Power app), and I wasn't using it. Always had to force stop it. Can you check and see if the same is for you?

Still on Omega at the moment, but I delete almost all Samsung installed apps so don't have the widget you mentioned.

2) any fast way to restore all your settings if you want to try a different rom? if no i won't try fluxmod as mine is just fine running dlev 3.1 + siyah 2.6.4

thankd

Make a nandroid backup (follow brendans guide in his signature if you are unsure) it takes a snapshot of your current rom so it can be restored to its entirety after you are done testing.

kiwitrc: How do you find Checkrom compared to DLEV, I am thinking of doing the same or trying Fluxmod

Both personally and benchmarking my tests have found Flux > Dlev > Check. My results are posted about 10 pages back when I benchmarked all the roms.
Check started out trying to be original and then gave in to "user demand" and bloated out a good rom.
Dlev was the best of both performance and battery but became outdated.
Flux is the best rom atm in terms off battery which I find most users are searching for.
Simple and Clean had the best benchmark score but the init.d folder had alot of duplicate/conflicting scripts which caused lag.

Installed ICS RC5 two days ago and its certainly 2 revisions away from GB. All the usual daily tasks are working fine with no FCs (calls, txts, wifi, 3g, camera) facelock is hilarious.

Chex, you running your usual apps on RC5? You happy with it as a daily driver?

No, tried to install them using titanium and about 2/5 would work with minor issues the other 3 more frequent FCs. I guess the apks will have to be updated to 4.0 architecture. If all you want to do is call txt and browse its fine for daily use as of now but it will still force close for no reason once in a while.

Still using Flux 1.1 as my daily rom

Damned fast radio on Wifi. Where'd you find that? Does that mean Telecom are preparing a firmware update?

On another note XDA has some XXLP1 based roms already, I'm just about to give one a go now. Backup is done and safely stored on the laptop and the rom download has 25 mins to go (megaupload - 330mb file). I don't know that I'll be using it long but it's supposedly quite stable now, the firmware was leaked sometime this morning.

What's the story with flashing to ICS the first time?  Do the ROMS all contain new bootloaders, and are you guys doing a re-partition as well?

The one I'm trying is a cwm flashable back-up, so no re-partitioning required. No idea about the bootloader (not really concerned to be honest). Just going to try it and see how it goes. ;)

I had quite a few issues the first time around. I was getting a lot of FC's. I was about to give up and decided to try installing again. Wiped everything, re-installed and now it's running very nicely.

The new browser is great, linking directly to my Chrome bookmarks makes it immediately more convenient than the alternatives.  The UI is very nice, even with some green tinged icons lurking around (status bar...).  It's also running the CM Trebuchet launcher - very nice!

This seems stable enough to keep a a daily rom - will cross my fingers as I don't want to go back now!

The modem is just a general T model release not specifically done by Telecom, I was just stating that so ppl don't get it confused. I found it on a Euro android site.

Already using XXLP2 today so don't get too attached to any ICS just yet as its getting more and more stable by the hour haha.

Make sure you flash a repacked rom from XDA and it will be fine for testing no repartitioning or boot loaders to worry about as Intratech removes them in his frankenstein versions.

Do you find that your upload speed is limited to ~900kbit/s when doing a speedtest on Telecom?

I'm wondering if maybe Telecom artificially restrict the upload speed. With HSUPA enabled we should be getting far greater speeds.

Installed xxlp2 ( rooted kernel ) this afternoon while upgrading my daughters phone.

So far so good, browser scrolling fixed, swype in the build, grabbed titanium before the upgrade & using nova launcher.
