Format /system in CWM and (without re-booting) re-flash the zip file.

Thanks Brendan. Tried that also and no go either. At a loss to understand why it won't connect, it tries to authenticate though. 8.1 (raw with no backups restored) seemed to have some lag for me. I then tried WanamLite and my wifi did connect but was really patchy. The rom itself though seemed to perform with less lag than remix.

Restored my Nandroid and back to perfect wifi

Am now on Bezke and have the smoothest experience so far but again wifi authenticates and won't connect.. this is driving me nuts!

Will try a router reboot.. If I can get the wifi working, this will be my daily driver.

Edit: Knocked the bastard off! (wifi anyway). Reflashed, then did a reset via CWM. Connected immediately.. phew.. Okay restoring applications time...

Is it okay to restore via gb titanium backup, or is it best to reinstall fresh into ics?

Glad you sorted it.

I don't think you can restore gingerbread backups onto ICS reliably.

Try it and see.

I'm sure you'll keep us updated, I have never had a reason to try the mobile odin yet so it'll be good to see how it goes. Not that you're a guinea pig or anything... ;)

Finally got around to trying out mobile odin this weekend. Managed to flash back the stock 2.3.3 VFNZ rom only to have it boot loop (luckily the fix just required a cache and data wipe). Some progess on my USB problem (I get the MTP initialization and connection screen) but still not getting a connection on the laptop side (or any other PC/laptop) and no USB notification on the phone either.

Hi there..

I've been a member for years and have found some helpful advice.. great forums!!

I've recently acquired two phones..
Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2..

I'm happy with the S2 but it's full of Telecom crap, and to be honest for the specs it seems as though it could perform better, the S(i9000) is running ok but seems to stop working for 5 to 10 seconds.

I've been reading through some of the posts about flashing to a custom rom, sounds awesome to me :)
The problem is I have no idea where to start and what to do, I'm new to all this ;)

I'm keen to do both the phones but again not sure where to start.
Can someone please guide me through this?
Any help appreciated.

Has anyone figured out a way how to make the GPS lock\positioning faster?
I'm on KI3 and so far happy with the performance of it.

My GPS locks onto 9 satalites within 10-15 seconds indoors with the patch applied. In saying that though I've never really had a problem with the GPA previously..

I don't think you can restore gingerbread backups onto ICS reliably.

Try it and see.

I restored all my GB backups using Titanium. Sometimes Titanium would cause the phone to restart once during the restore. All I would do is continue the restore after the phone restarted. Also if an app wouldn't restore I would reboot and try again.

I've been running ics for two and a half weeks now. There have been a few bugs, but nothing that ever lost data or caused enough problems for me to switch back. There are still some app compatibility issues, mainly high end games oddly enough, but the phone still does everything I need it to (am a heavy user).

You could always make a back-up, try one for a few hours and see how it goes. You know you want to ;)
Most of the "bugs" on the xda roms are known and are in the op. There are usually pretty simple and effective solutions as well.

been following the progress for a few weeks and definitely seems to be getting better, well for those that follow the directions. Still content to wait and see and do the conservative approach :)
