It should. You've only got to read some forums threads to see that it's a serious issue with some people. In my defence I've been skipping (at least) alternate releases for the ics rom I'm using. Mainly cos it was too damned time consuming restoring everything from a full wipe...

Now on Remix 8.5 and wifi connected immediately.. Knew then that this was going to be a good experience..

tried the previous releases from 7.3 onwards and i was back on my nandroid backup with a day. 8.5 is working nicely at the moment.

now i usually install dolphin and change the user agent to desktop. i havent yet on 8.5 and seeing what the ics browser does. vimeo tries to play but doesnt. other sites ask for flash to be installed.

other ics roms where ive installed dolphin and flash 11.1. the video plays however it only seems to buffer a few minutes worth at any time.

using the ics browser and user agent set to desktop, what's going to ensure that all flash content play??

What sites are you using? I haven't found any that don't work yet, but don't browse a great deal.

I'm running FixeRom LPB (from DarkyRom) at the moment, nice to be back on the dark side...
It's very stable, no fc's at all. There is a known issue withe the new LPB kernel, but there is a simple fix for it. He hasn't messed with much, so it's pretty much a Samsung rom with basic custom tweaks and some apps removed. I'm using the Nova launcher now, more configurable than Trebuchet and I love the scrolling dock with folders. While the theme leave a bit to be desired (really Samsung - WTF??) it's a great rom.

I'm running FixeRom LPB (from DarkyRom) at the moment, nice to be back on the dark side...
It's very stable, no fc's at all. There is a known issue withe the new LPB kernel, but there is a simple fix for it. He hasn't messed with much, so it's pretty much a Samsung rom with basic custom tweaks and some apps removed. The only downside of the FixeRom is the theme. The XDA "developers" have some quite good ics themes going, and AOSP apps. This one is very similar to Samsung's official gingerbread.

I've just tried going to that video on my trusty ol' Cognition 1.5.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.4) install, using a modified standard browser with user agent selection hacked in.

When I visit the video in mobile mode, I see the message: "This video won't work on this device. Click the Later button to watch it later." I do get to see a still from the video.

When I use desktop mode, there's just a big white gap on the page where the video should be. No still image, nothing.

I hope this helps to figure out if ICS is at fault.

can anyone tell me the best modem (android 2.3.5) for Vodafone in Dunedin?

I was on telecom and I get between 5-8Mbps outdoors and 1-3Mbps indoors ... I ported to Vodafone (no term) and now i hardly get any reception anywhere!!!
- by the st clair beach esplanade: hopeless.
- inside my house: hopeless (waverley)
- inside dunedin hospital: hopeless
- i haven't been many other places yet but apart from outdoor CBD it's all hopeless

note: hopeless = 0-2 bars of 2G

Thanks for this link. Best ICS experience so far for me, very very smooth, little FCs. Happy now to use this as a daily driver.

Hey joker - I'm on Vodafone in Dunedin (work in Dunedin, live in Mosgiel) - I'm currently using XXLP6, which is certainly the best I've tried in terms of idle drain; 3G speeds seem fine, and voice quality is better that the earlier ICS modems. . . .On that point, just remember you can use any modem with any version of Android - it really doesn't seem to matter.
