I'm on 2degrees and have noticed in the last few months that the H+ network is running in Wellington CBD. I wonder if there are plans to extend the coverage further afield? I do seem to run into more 'dead spots' when the signal changes from H+ to H or from H to 3G.

It's very stable, no fc's at all. There is a known issue withe the new LPB kernel, but there is a simple fix for it. He hasn't messed with much, so it's pretty much a Samsung rom with basic custom tweaks and some apps removed. I'm using the Nova launcher now, more configurable than Trebuchet and I love the scrolling dock with folders. While the theme leave a bit to be desired (really Samsung - WTF??) it's a great rom.

Have you had any problems connecting to your phone via USB since installing this rom? My samsung_android driver fails to install and as such I can't connect at all. Tried a reinstall of Kies etc but no luck :(

Running this rom with no issues. very happy to use as a daily driver. Did see the unsucessful driver install message once but went into the usb settings i think to fix and it instantly came up with the "connect as usb storage" message on the phone then it was away flying.

Nothing I have tried has worked so i might have to go back to a 2.3 rom and see if that has any success :(

what about a dalvik wipe, wipe cache and data reset after a reflash?

I had the same problem and tried pretty much everything to fix it. It drove me crazy as I transfer stuff via usb quite a lot.

So I changed roms...

I'm now running Omega V1.1 ICS.

Also, as the green theme had been driving me crazy I've been keeping an eye out for AOSP themes for the LPB roms. Someone posted a new theme this morning on Westcrip's Resurrection Remix rom. I've posted screenshots on another thread, but you can follow the link there to get the theme if it's what you're after.

I used Market Enabler (set to T-Mobile US). Then searched for it and downloaded it. :)

Unfortunately it's not working so well with the leaked ics builds, and I've not tried it on anything else. I keep it there as I'm hoping an update will fix it. When it's working it;s great though. :)

You can download it from this link. Saves you having to use Market Enabler :) Lee's right, it doesn't work so nicely with leaked ICS ROMs. I have ditched it as it would stall, eventually resulting in a FC. Sometimes it would take so long to provide a warning that I'd actually given up waiting and rebooted my phone.

I'm getting a bit tired of my Vodafone-standard XWKG3 firmware,
It's a work-supplied phone so I can't really root it but I'd like to update it to a newer firmware (e.g. 2.3.5 or 2.3.6). I've read through the xda forums on how to do this and it doesn't look too difficult.

My main problem is
- how do I know which firmware package to choose that will be compatible with VNZ
- will it wipe the phone

Apologies for the noob questions - thanks in advance.

I'd recommend you go for XWKK5 - it's the most stable 2.3.6 release IMO. I'd give you a link from XDA, but multiupload.com seems to be down at the moment - you can find it at www.sammobile.com (you'll need to sign up to download).

In terms of wiping, it probably wouldn't, but it's irrelevant as you should always do a factory reset prior to flashing a different base ROM (i.e moving from 2.3.x to 2.3.y).

Updating to a different stock firmware via Odin is very straightforward, and you should have no real problems. I've done it a couple of times to de-brand Samsung phones.

You should be able to install a generic European firmware and it'll work just fine. The only thing is that you'll lose all Vodafone branding, so they'll notice if you need to take the phone in for repairs.

The latest one is I9100XXKL1, which is based on Android 2.3.6. You can download a copy from here (password: samfirmware.com). Installing this will wipe your contacts/messages/apps/etc, as part of the Odin process wipes the part of the file system where this data lives. There are apps available that will back up and restore your personal data, and your apps will download again automatically, so it's not too big of a deal.

Hint: Remove you SIM card before flashing, so that it's not present when the phone boots up again. If you leave your SIM in, the phone will use mobile data to re-download all of your apps. IF the SIM is out, you will get the chance to set up WiFi instead.

Edit: XWKK5 fimware can be downloaded here. Same password as before.

I am thinking of upgrading the SDCard in my Galaxy S2 to something more capacious and I am was wondering if a faster SD Card would be advantageous. Anyone have a link to a NZ store selling the specific recommended card?

Mine is a class 2 32G Sandisk and I have never had a problem, even when HD video recording or playback

I see class up 8, I presume higher = faster, does the GS2 have a limit or compatibility issue with bigger/faster ones?
