Got a fedex parcel this morning.

My thoughts so far ( vs Galaxy S )

- 2.3.3 feels more responsive, though I miss 2.3.4 already.
- The phone feels more solid, I guess the texturing helps.
- The screen is seriously nice !!
- It just feels very fast/responsive
- Kinda weird that samsung apps won't update without changing the settings, good security, not so good experience.
- Only one photo so far, but the preview is stunning & the resolution looks very very nice.
- The gps works !!
- It just looks nicer than an iPhone 4.
- Really nice that a phone from HK didn't need any setup to run on telecom.
- The engadget review mentioned how the pixel layout had changed, even though it was similar resolution, it certainly feels like the text is better & it feels a very crisp screen, as they said it gives nothing away to the iPhone 4.

I still don't think it matches Apple with out of box experience & consistency, but I've got to say the initial setup syncing calendar/mail/contacts is pretty dang impressive.

If I flash to an overclocked kernel, will anything in the phone change other than ability to overclock? Note I'm currently rooted on chain fire kernel and still enjoying stock vfau functionality

Ok, that was easier then expected

Bear in mind that the Litening firmware (and "AngeloROM") has some "cheats" in it to artifically improve Quadrant scores but not actual device usage. Cognition, Tegrak and Villain don't.

Overclocking isn't worth the cost to battery life, I've underclocked mine to 1Ghz, I can't notice any difference but it ekes a bit more life out of the cells.

As long as the kernel hasn't had extra modules compiled into it (few if any do) then OC is likely the only difference. I don't think anyone has started compiling in the Voodoo tweaks yet. I believe most of them are leaving the TUN/CIFS modules as external.

Man I miss having my phone :(

Had issues with NZ post today, the usual story:
"can't put a battery in the parcel unless you pay the highest amount"
"can't send it on the highest paying courier unless you have a proper address"

So now waiting for Clove to give me a physical address and/or to tell me to leave the battery out of the parcel

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

The current version of Lite'ning Rom (V1.5) has no Quadrant cheats, they were removed three weeks ago (see changelog here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14120285&postcount=1)

1) i have a clock adjuster with ONDEMAND 'governor' - 200MHz-1200MHz: doesn't it mean i am saving battery? ie when at rest it sits at 200MHz? overnight it barely used any battery when i slept.

following from that, if i made it 200MHz-1500MHz, i am sure the battery consumption would be very similar (i currently don't do heavy processing like 1080p video, gaming etc but would like to OC "just because I can")

hmm ... i'll ponder the OC kernel(s) when i have time and energy

Mine is in a Deep Sleep state if the screen is off and it's not doing anything. It uses less than 1% an hour on standby. I'm using CPU Spy (market) just to keep an eye on CPU usage while I continue to tweak the undervolt settings. My thought prior to this was that it ran at 200MHz, but it uses even less. Mine runs at 200 when it's playing MP3's with the screen off, so logically if it's not doing that then it would be using even less.

If so, can I confirm that this is the process:

Place in 'Download mode' (via vol/power/menu key combo or USB jig [have one ordered]) >> Load Odin >> [kill Kies if it's running] >> plug phone in >> load ROM as per Litepro's instruction >> enjoy rooted/pretty S2?

Yep. It's that simple. Don't forget to use the correct selection in Odin, they're listed in LitePro's first post anyway. It takes about 2½ minutes to flash, and the reboot following may take quote a while (just the first one though).

I just got my Galaxy s II and signed up for Telecom XT Smartphone plan.

Have anyone experienced that webpages (or any data content) is not loading?

Everything can work fine for a couple of hours and then without changing any setting, I am unable to use any data (can still receive texts and calls). This can last maybe an hour or so and then it will work fine again...

Is this happening while you're using the XT network or Wifi?
I have that problem with wifi, need to switch it off and then back on again to get it to work. It's a known bug that 2.3.4 will hopefully fix.

On another note, does anyone know if the Telecom XT network uses Fast Dormancy?

I have found that the in call volume is too low and wont stay set so found the following if you are having trouble hearing callers.

?Enter this number *#*#197328640#*#*
?This will open the service mode menu.
?Select option [5] AUDIO
?Select option [1] (VOICE CALL)
?Select option [2] HEADSET
?Select option [1] Volume
?Select option [1] SRC Speech RX Volume
?Select option [5] 5_lvl : 87
?Press the menu button (left side)
?Choose Key Input
?Enter a value between 0 and 100, with 100 the loudest setting.
?Press ok
?Then press the menu button and select back this will save (don't use the right side back key you normally use to navigate the phone or you will quit out of the settings).
?Keep selecting the menu and back until you exit the service mode menu.
You will also note you can change volume settings for other things like Bluetooth, handsets, video call etc.
