Hey all,

We’ve got a shower liner that is bulging quite a bit in places. Zero chance of getting the installer back to rectify it. Is there any chance that it can be salvaged by pulling it off the wall, cleaning up the adhesive off the back then re-gibbing and glueing it back on?

TIA

Yes, with an acrylic shower, you should be able to remove the liner, clean it, and reinstall it. It does obviously require removal of the plumbing fixtures in the shower and disassembly of quite a bit of the shower.

We had this done a year or so back, when our shower lining came unstuck at the base.

Are any of the bulges in spots where they actually matter (i.e. where they will let water in)? Might be worth getting an installer to take a look, if you haven’t already.

May depend on the type of material used for the liner. Based on our one which is quite a thin material, no. It was too thin, and depending on the adhesive use, it won't come off easily. When ours was removed . We also had to have a lot of the gib replaced as it pull a lot of the surface off the gib underneath. The liner isn't that expensive compared to the cost of the job to do it. But getting a new one with material delays could be an issue. Think we had to wait a month to get a new one made.

I had the same thing happened to me this year. What's the thickness of your liner? If it's too thin (less than 2mm), then forget about it. It;'s going to bulk up again. Mine was too thin that's why it bulked up within months. I got a refund from the shower company that I bought the shower liner and installed it too. NOthing wrong with the wall but the liner itself. I got a different company to do the job properly. They used a 2mm thick liner and installed it too.  I was happy with the result, except that the bath screen door squeaks now. I have to check the screws.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
