Presumably a glitch in the matrix.
andrewchen:Oblivian: 3.0.2 for android
Changelog suggests changes to battery and persistent notifications
And in the new subversion Bluetooth Tracing is now available for iOS12.5 (unannounced, but some reports of people with iPhone 6 devices now able to activate it).

Can QR codes be scanned from the back ?
I saw a woman enter a shop and try to scan the code from the other side of the window.
Yes it can! My colleague showed me this trick last year to my surprise. She didn't want to step outside so just scanned inside the door with the QR code posted on the other side of the door. It also works up-side-down, rotated etc. It assume uses key points in the code to figure out what way is up and whether it's back-to-front etc.

We like statstics right?
MoH provide the data in a ~6 month bracket that you can chuck into Excel and produce pivots and so on.
So did exactly that. Might be a bit of a lag for reporting for yesterday. Or the mad rush to the supermarket didn't make anyone zap it further.
Interesting relation between registered vs scanning.
The most recent day's worth of data is generally incomplete because not all of the devices have reported their analytics yet (the numbers actually continue to update over the course of 31 days or so). They used to include the most recent day's data, but too many journalists just reported that number and it made the number seem lower than it actually was, so now they take out the most recent day's worth of data to avoid that happening. So what we say is about a day behind what the MOH has, and we only get it updated four times a week.
Drop around 5 February would be because of Waitangi Weekend. I expect we will need to wait until the end of the week to get a good picture of what happened with app usage this week, although MOH has said the Bluetooth Tracing number has passed 1.1mil.

I know a bit about the NZ COVID Tracer app, but I don't work for Ministry of Health
They didn't have them at hand during standup when media asked about being proactive vs reactive. But come out at 1pm again
Reflects more like I/we were likely expecting to see...
How can the total number of devices be exceeded by the number of devices with bluetooth active?
Presumably as outlined earlier, there may be some devices not reporting home all the time.
And the BT may be BT interactions?. Which if a good percentage of the total users had enabled would still go nuts in the background and exceed the number of users?.
I do know of a buttload of people that aren't scanning. But think the BT is doing the work for them. So it may also point to them.
Poster scans and diary entries are measured from 1pm to 1pm NZDT. Previous daily numbers increase over up to 30 days as analytics events captured while a device is offline are uploaded.
Active Devices count is the number of devices that have either scanned a code or added a manual entry during the 24-hour period.
Bluetooth tracing numbers indicate the number of unique devices that have checked the server for new exposure keys in the last 24 hours. This represents the number of devices actively participating in Bluetooth tracing each day.
Ahhh, that explains it. I assumed that 'active device count' was all devices with the app installed, but it's actually only counting devices that scanned a QR code in the last 24 hours.
By rights in a good world. It should be close to 1:1. And not that far apart. But alas, shows the number of people that have it but not interactively using it huh
Not necessarily. People can be active users, but go days without going somewhere with a QR code. So currently in Auckland, you would expect the number of active users to drop as most people won't be going anywhere

I only go between home and work so no scans most days unless I go to the supermarket on the way home. or bunnings. or kmart. Thats about it for me so many days with no scans at all but bluetooth is on all the time.

Yes same, although I am in the habit of scanning the QR code at work now. I think there would be a lot of people who might only get a scan every second day or so? Especially at level 3 where I actually have not left the house except for a walk around the block.
My Covid App seems to have a long delay of several seconds after launching app before the screen allows you to snap a QR code. I click on the app to scan a code and there is this long wait with just the Health Dept Logo and then it clears the screen and I can scan. It doesn't do this every time. but often enough to be annoying for the people behind me also wanting to scan. The wait is around 5+ seconds. Any thoughts?
