@michaelmurfy - thanks, that would be great.

That page does indicate it's changed at some point, going by the 'new!' indicator!

⚠ NEW The tool now makes .zip files with both encrypted and unencrypted firmware and an info.txt inside.
⚠ NEW Use the following app made by CamiAlfa to flash your modified firmware: m365 DownG
It will automatically chose the correct firmware for your scooter. Don't try to flash the .zip file with the old patched app!

@michaelmurfy: I've confirmed that that app doesn't work on my wife's phone using your firmware files, so pretty sure it's a different app.

If you still have the app that you used on your phone, would there be any chance of you uploading the APK to the same directory as your firmware files? Many thanks!

@jonathan18 Just uploaded the APK to that Google Drive directory now. Give it a shot.

Brilliant! Thanks for uploading that so quickly, Michael. Will give it a go this evening and report back.

That APK works perfectly with the firmware files, so thanks for uploading that. Both the 'conservative' and 'power' versions of the 138 firmware seem faster than the 140 but wind is too strong tonight to give an accurate assessment. Think I'll stick with conservative' for the meantime.

The weird thing is, though, that on both of these I can't find any difference no matter what the regen braking setting is set to! (And I've spent a decent amount of time testing this.) My default setting is 'medium', as I like the ability to ride the scooter much as I do drive our Leaf (which I always drive in 'B' mode).

Has anyone else who has tried out various different firmware noticed this? I think I'll get used to it, but would ideally like the bit more regen resistance of 'medium'.

@jonathan18 It'll be because I have "KERS min speed" set in this firmware. I'll try and re-create them with the new firmware toolkit however my scooter is out of action (puncture on the back tire ugh...). It is better on the motor if you have this disabled or set to low anyway.

@michaelmurfy: ah, I wondered if that was the reason! If you do get the opportunity to create an alternative firmware with a bit more selectable regen I would really appreciate it, but no stress. Will be sure to use it only set to low! (It’s my preferred way of driving our Leaf, and assume it’s not a problem for that - is there a reason why it’s particularly an issue with these scooters?)

Damn shame about the puncture - and that’s with Slime in the tyres! At least it’s not the front tyre, going by others’ reports that that is even more tricky.

I've also gone ahead and purchased one of these: https://www.m365dash.com/

Have you got your Dashboard yet and if so do you recommend it?

I've updated the packages to support the new Google Play Store app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.m365downgrade)

Folder here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14iChAntgnwuGlsmT8WcvrpJ6OuhfrUo2?usp=sharing

Power slightly overclocks things - should be safe but wouldn't recommend long distances. I've had a play around with my scooter with all these.

Regen is re-enabled and can be set in the Mi Home app as before.

Just download the .zip files from the "new" folder and flash the .zip as is with the above app (don't extract).

DRV138-Conservative - 30km/h max speed.
DRV138-Power - 35km/h max speed.
DRV138-Default - 25km/h max speed.

There is no upper limit however the scooter will brake automatically / regen downhill (seems safer that way).

Looking at tracking should be here early next week - will post here when I've gotten it.

Thanks, Michael, all working well with those new zip files. I've switched over to using only light regen, but it's still good to have even that. Thanks for all your help with this.

Does anyone have any insight into the waterproofness of the M365, I remember a YT video which said basically the battery and electronics compartment was not particularly waterproof but that video may have been a way of justifying the aftermarket covers.

I wonder if anyone bothers to add silicon along the case gaps for example?

I don't feel particularly good about using one in the rain and thus far have avoided using it entirely when wet. This will change when I will have to rely upon it for commuting entirely.

@robfish just got my M365 Dash today and I am incredibly impressed with it. Menu is easy to use (you use the brake + throttle to navigate) and it is well built (3D printed) and took me literally 5mins to install. Looks stock and I love the carbon fibre stickers. A little bonus was included with the tail light protectors - really happy with it.

Phone doesn't pick up the full screen as being OLED it "flickers" on camera (however doesn't to the eye). It is easy to read even in sunlight.

michaelmurfy:

I've taken the plunge today and bought one.

<snip>

I've been playing around with custom firmware - have got some tested packages here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14iChAntgnwuGlsmT8WcvrpJ6OuhfrUo2?usp=sharing

I've also gone ahead and purchased one of these: https://www.m365dash.com/

I personally prefer my firmware with BMS118 - 115 doesn't work so well with the custom fw.

The one I use completely disables regenerative freewheeling (where the scooter slows itself down), so you need to be more on guard. It also boosts the power intake, pushing the torque quite a way up. If you guys wamt to try it, here is the 1.4.1/1.4.2 to 1.4.0 firmware that you'll need to downgrade your scooter with, and here is my firmware beware that it boosts the power consuderably. Much better for auckland roads. In summary:

My firmware:

  • boosts the KERS limit
  • boosts the top speed limit (45km/h vs 25km/h stock)
  • boosts the eco speed limit (25km/h vs 18 stock)
  • lowers the motor start speed (1km/h vs 5 stock)
  • increases the cruise control delay (7s vs 5s stock)
  • always boots in eco mode
  • removes the hard limit of 35km/h from the scooter

Please try not to fall off when using my firmware. Always start in eco until you get used to how the scooter handles with the cfw

I've sent my 2nd M365 back to Container Door, the beeping issue I mentioned earlier (3 short 1 long, brake sensor malfunction) happened a few more times, the acceleration stops, brake still worked but something is not right. I'll get a refund this time, back to the bicycle.

Hatch: I didn't ride it the first day I got it due to drizzle, read online that drizzle was OK, just don't ride in heavy rain or through puddles, but the manual says no.

Had to get a login specially to say thanks - these packages and the info is great.  The conservative gives the scooter just enough of a boost to get it up the fairly standard inclines around the central city without knobbling the ride quality.  Strangely I haven't noticed any obvious reduction in the range, but the scooter is new, so the battery might just be getting up to its full capacity.

Cheers again
