Hi Folks,
I am having issues trying to access my OneNote 2010 files that are stored on SkyDrive. Basically, since the 8.1 release update, I cant. I have listed all of the issues that I am having with OneNote 2010 below, the one in bold is the one that is stopping me from working.
Issue number 1. How to I change the location of where files are sync'd In the new SkyDrive (could do it in the old SkyDrive pro application)
Issue number 2. I am a mobile user, I use OneNote primarily because it works well OFFLINE. The new SkyDrive does not download new files, instead it downloads them on first access. To change this, one has to mark the file as available offline. So the issue is - How do you change the default behaviour so it always downloads the file if it is out-of-sync - especially *before* one discovers one cannot access the file because one is OFFLINE for a reason.
Issue number 3. When I double click on a OneNote file, I get the message "Files from other programs cannot be opened in OneNote - Select a OneNote file. I created the file with OneNote 2010, however, its put it up onto SkyDrive and left a URL shortcut in its place - which OneNote cannot open.
Issue number 4, when I click on the shortcut with windows explorer, it opens the OneNote file in the browser (OneNote Web App), which is nice if I was on an IPad but I am not I am using Windows 8.1 on a surface pro. Also, I prefer to use the application that I paid good money for and web apps are useless because I work OFFLINE quite often.
Issue number 5, when on the SkyDrive site, how do you mark a file/folder as one you want on your machine (i.e. I want this folder to be made available in my devices SkyDrive folder and be available OFFLINE) - the only download option I can find zips the files up and asks me to save the zip file to a location.
Issue number 6, if one runs the 'SkyDrive App' available from the app store (the only way I have found to actually get at my SkyDrive files), right click on the SkyDrive folder and choose Open with "One Note" it opens it with the OneNote APP (which I don't use because I don't use APPS because I have a perfectly good paid for piece of software that does a better job) - otherwise it just opens the OneNote file in the web browser (see issue 4).
Issue number 7, Choosing "Open From Web" in OneNote 2010 no longer opens the SkyDrive folder and let you choose the file (so you can open it), instead it just opens the web browser and displays the OneNote files, you cant select them because it opens up OneNote in the web browser (see issue 4). Open from Web was the way I used to set up Notebooks in OneNote.
In summary, what I need to be able to do is open the OneNote files on SkyDrive like I used to so they load into the application. This way they are sync'd correctly with other devices, and so when I work OFFLINE, it will sync again as soon as I am back online again. To do this I need to enter the web URL into OneNote 2010 which should be something in the format of http://d.docs.live...../
