SirHumphreyAppleby:
Ge0rge: I received an email from YouShop today :
So it would appear it doesn't matter that something maybe be below the customs threshold, YouShop will still collect GST.
I expect that this may reduce the amount of custom they receive, particularly for cheaper items.
The GST legislation was quite broad so as to include such things. E.g. AliExpress, eBay and Amazon Marketplace are meant to pay, even though the individual tranders may be under the threshold for registering for GST.
It would be ok, if at the same time they got rid of the duty on some items (clothes and shoes).
I have no issues paying the GST (so long as I'm aware of it when I'm buying). It's the IETF and duty (on some items).
It would be nice to buy clothes or shoes worth more than the $220 at which the duty (and therefore IETF) kicks in.
