It's not treated but bred for extended shelf life, which tends to select for longevity over taste.  This is why fruit sold in, and in NZ imported from, the US, has almost no taste.  It's also why things like peaches and plums from your backyard, half-life a few days, taste vastly better than anything from a supermarket, half-life several weeks, and often picked half-ripe and cool-stored.

It lends credence to local food movements. Some produce such as pineapples & bananas are unavoidably transported long distances, since they mostly grow in the tropics.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Interestingly in Palmerston pacnsave the plums were $3.99 and nectarines $6.99. A far cry from the Kilbirnie $12.99 for both.

Yet another price increase from Disney+

Annoyed that my suggestion that Sky was decent value and that 'choice' would actually lead to less choice and more cost has unsurprisngly turned out to be true.

House flies. Seem to be more prevalent this summer, and if cooking something meaty they really start turning up like teenagers to a party.

Any suggestions to mitigate this? We have gardens around the house but no compost near the kitchen. No idea what is over the back fence behind the kitchen.

Fly traps? Robocans?

A decent swat and some hand-eye coordination goes a long way.

I also rue the day battery powered grinders became available.

I'm annoyed that we just had to fork out $85 to replace the glass on my youngest son's wing mirror after someone (presume a child) clearly hit it with a bike or scooter or similar as it was parked at the kerbside.

Scratches and a bit of a ding, plus broken glass below the mirror housing.

Very annoying and a continuation of the expenses/curses of last year, it would seem.

On the local beach haven facebook page there has been people with smashed mirrors that seem to be a local out of control autistic "child" that the page admins shut down any discussion about. Don't assume that it was hit with a scooter or something and wasn't intentional from someone that should not be loose.

I know that child and its mother well.
They are the reason I have new glasses and a $250 dent in my pre-Christmas wallet.
He rides the buses and snatches glasses or bus cards off people and snaps them. The mother does nothing...neither do the police.

If the panels are going to be mounted like that they may as well just use wing nuts.

Flypaper is ugly but does a really good job, we've got three in the kitchen/dining/living room area and they trap a lot of flies.

Robocans aren't very effective because flies can't read and so don't know they're supposed to react to them.

Were they actually stolen, or they just had eight panels to install and used a one-size-fits-all frame?

She seems far more likely to be a local Karen than a gang member. If you see it happening again, your smartphone's camera should be pretty easy to set up.
