Lizard1977:Current gripe - people who don't answer the questions in an email. I don't mean people who don't reply to emails (that's another problem) - I mean people who have obviously read (or maybe just skimmed) the email, but who provide an incomplete response. Several occasions in the last 48 hours I've sent emails to professionals (e.g. lawyers) who answer one of the three (clearly marked) questions, and ignore the others. Or who fail to answer the question and instead answer something else entirely. Which means another email to follow up, or eventually a phone call (which isn't always helpful, when a written record is needed). Grrr!
There’s an art to solving this problem
The biggest improvement you can make is to put key points in bold. That way the skim readers won’t miss those points.
The other is to structure the email with an intro, body and summary.
If you require info back provide a basic form generated in Excel copy-pasted into the email with colour coded boxes for them to fill responses into.
