I figure that most of us have had a really sticky question answered by the Geekzone community at some stage - the community imparting knowledge that you really benefitted from - cos that's what we do.

There's gold in the forums, that's for sure. Finding that gold can be a little tricky as time goes by & the thread gets buried several pages deep. Hopefully this thread will serve as a concentrated repository of GZ gold - the best of Geekzone in one superthread.

Your turn.... Go!

I had some great assistance from the Slingshot tech rep - I thought I had a provisioning problem, but it was a fibre break under the shared driveway.  And Slingshot/Chorus sorted it out very quickly

You say “your turn” but you haven’t had a go. You go first - what’s yours?

Someone from Vodafone chipping in and helping with getting connected when the techs they sent couldn’t. Took some time but sorted. Very frustrating at the time and wouldn’t have happened without Geekzone.

Not so much advice but I remember getting my first generation iPhone from a Geekzoner in 2007 or 8, pre jailbroken and everything. Those were good times.

Somebody (I apologise - my memory fails me trying to recall who) who worked at Spark and fixed the broadband at our last property by far more direct means than are usually available!

A couple of instances where I've had problems setting TVs up for Freeview.

Setting up my Deco to be the modem.

Lots of other I can't remember.

For me:

  • Reading about pitfalls and experiences people have had with service providers and retailers, and using that info to be able to make informed choices
  • Things to watch and read from others' reviews
  • I've completed some great trades through 'Offers and Wanted'

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

That sounds like something I'd say

I bought a 10A CTEK car battery charger after reading the recommendations here - I didn't know that such a superior charger was even available. The performance was so impressive that I also bought a 5A version for the bikes.

The near unanimous support for Breville Barista BES870 espresso machine saved me from embarking on a pointless journey trying to find a better solution than what I've already got.

Purchasing a PS5 from a GZ member after looking around for ages. Not really advice but definitely a great thing to happen.
