both of my lines are between 8 and 9db snr on both up and down now. although i'm over 70 megabit on one connection.. using broadcom, it's the ikns line that seems to be doing weird INP stuff, and that's gone down from about 66 megabit to about 56 megabit on 8b. maybe it wants to shift me to 17a and wants to reduce all errors. i dunno, here's hoping :)

i'm on 6 delay down and 8 delay up too, which seems a little strange.

this line has always had a few crc erorrs, but not bursty. now there is 0 since the resync at 4:20 or so this morning, just FEC...

i would say the reason your SNR is so high is because you have a good line and DLM thinks there is no point having a SNR of 9 or 12 when it can get away with something higher

My line started with a SNR of 16 and is currently sitting at 14dB. No point in having a lower SNR as it cant go any faster anyways.

I dropped back to DLM-1 after about 3 days.

mine jumped from 60/10 to 70/30 sometime last week.

A few days ago Spark lifted the 11 Mbps upload cap and i can use all the upload bandwidth. Nice.

Took me three days to go back to DLM 1

Just got back from a weekend away to find that my line had re-synced for the second time since the initial change to 998.

Download sync has dropped 6Mb/s (59 to 53), and upload had dropped 1Mb/s (10.4 to 9.4). Still no DLM-1 it appears.

Just remember that when you initially changed to 998 you SNR might not have been sitting on a standard chorus profile, ie 9dB or 12dB, it might have been on something like 7dB as when it would have resynced for the change to 998 it would have been during a quiet period. That small 2dB or so change back to a standard profile might account for your sync speed changes.

its actually because @mikenzb is hitting the limit, so the snr is pulling back.

Based off upstream, he is on the 9dB profile and noise is just moving around a bit.

You're correct that my SNR was lower (6.4dB to be precise) after the initial 998 resync, but it changed to 9dB a few days later which didn't actually change the speeds at all.

i only dropped from 88 to 85 or something with between 7 and 8, to 8.3. Hmm, ... I thought I was on 9 :) i think if you have decent signal strength then slight changes in snr make a lot less difference, ... whereas if you had like 20db per tone or something then it'd make a much more significant difference.

if you're on ikns line card and capping out at 70 megabit then it'll amke zero difference on 17a in most cases it seems. (it seems that most 17a profiles on ikns hit 70 megabit)

since the 998 bandplan change i've seen way more fluctuations in snr margin on dsl stats. like d3 was sitting on 10db until just past 7 pm, and then it dropped off sharply to 8db then gradually rose up to around 9.5db staying constant, to then drop to 8db again. i am curious what is causing it, as snr margins used to be a lot more constant, but at the same time it doesn't seem to be creating any issues.

INP doesn't change ping, it's under adsl stats uhh,

hg659 isn't showing it easily in web interface you may have to use telnet/ssh :(

and google suggests that it may be spark doing that, and i think someone said that spark block ssh?

Looks like one of the cabinets in Orewa was done over the weekend. I've had a re-sync and my results are below.

I was always on a 17a profile prior to the Band 998 change.

However the Sync speed was about 60/11.

I cant complain too much about my speed upgrade. Only just noticed it today. Not really much of a download upgrade but a huge upload upgrade speed wise.

Really bugger all point in the stress and hassle of going to UFB atm - shared driveway syndrome :P The modem stats are 69993/29993
