Inphinity:michaelmurfy:I really hope Spark / Skinny and co do upgrades too. From memory the 30/10 plan was upgraded to have 50Mbit down free of charge but both providers (at-least currently) don't seem to be offering this to customers. I suspect this is to "upsell" customers to the 100Mbit plan.
It is great that Chorus are doing this and advertising it also.
Spark's Fibre Basic plan is 30/10 or 50/10 depending on the LFC's base offering.
I still find this bizarre that the base fibre offering is slower than some can get on VDSL. It does explain why occasionally there's comments about slower performance after getting fibre installed. If you went with spark and went from a good VDSL connection to the base plan it would be slower. You'd think as spark were charging more to stay on copper they'd want to incentivise the move by making sure it was actually a better service being offered for every customer that made the switch. It's been a couple of years since enable upgraded most people to 200/20 and last year it went up to 200/100 but the base plan is still 30 down.
I'm still on gigabit for now but I mainly for that for upload speeds above 20mb, now the default here is 100 I'm tempted to stick with that going forward. We don't come close to really needing gigabit speeds.
