billgates: MightyApe. They courier the game a day early and usually get it the next day on launch.
btw how did EBGame stuff up your order? I prefer EB for midnight launches.

Wasn't going to get into it but here goes (skip if not interested):
Circa 18 months ago I walk into my local EB. I ask them if I could put a pre order down for the best GTA V version available on PS3 (didn't know what was in it at the time, but didn't matter). Guy looks in his system and says they have different product codes and orders me the best one. Tells me once the packages are announced they will be in touch. A $20 deposit is required to secure it, so I pay it.
Shortly after the packages are announced I get a phone call from the store telling me that, despite very limited stock, I have secured a PS3 Collectors Edition (CE). I am very happy.
A while after that, I get another phone call. This time it is a guy from their support office, and it is to advise me that my CE has been re allocated, and would I still like the standard one ? I tell them there must be a mistake, as I have paid a deposit and have a receipt, and have had verbal confirmation. Guy puts me on hold and comes back and tells me that the required $50 deposit has not been lodged against my order. I explain that I was told that a $20 deposit would be sufficient, both at the time of order and that no mention was made during the follow up call - the impression I had was that everything was sorted. He tells me to go into store to sort it out.
The next day I go into the store to question them. They look my order up but can't find it in their system. I explain it has been cancelled by the support office as the store misinformed me as to the required deposit. Apparently once it is deleted in the system they have no record of it. However, I still had the receipt so I showed it to them. The next 30 mins was them telling me that there was nothing they could do, and that they could no longer even give me a refund. In the end I had to call their head office and then they begrudgingly gave me back my $20 deposit. But the was 'nothing they could do' about sourcing me a CE.
Normally I would have fought harder, but due to other commitments I really didn't/don't have the time/effort to fight it any further. The worst thing is that if they had of told me straight away that I needed to pay a bigger deposit that would have been fine. Or had they told me sooner that it was cancelled I could have secured one elsewhere, but now they are all sold out.
And yes, I have been to a number of midnight launches with them, but I will not any more. I am done with them.
TL:DR - They told me I had a Collectors Edition ordered, then cancelled it because they screwed up, and now I miss out.
sdav: What made them think they could just keep the $20!

I feel for you man that really really sucks. I've had mixed experiences with them but nothing like that!

In the past I had found them to be fairly good. I can forgive people making mistakes IF they admit it and do their best to fix them. Here, they did neither.
networkn:
I often find that in my own company we are very good at the big things we almost never miss something, but if something will go horribly wrong, it will happen on a tiny and simple transaction and attempts to fix it can make things worse. It then ends up being more annoying to the customer than if you screwed something big up, because the hassle proportional to the value of the transaction is huge.

In the end I went to the supplier got the cables and delivered and installed them free of charge, but the customer though we were morons I am quite sure!

Honestly I don't know where the truth stopped and the bs began, but something along the lines of because the order/transaction was voided they couldn't bring it up to authorise a refund. Therefore they couldn't give me money back, as the system technically didn't think they still had it. Or something like that...

I can't believe you preordered a game 1.5 years before it was released.
+1 for mightape, they always deliver quickly (but I'm in auckland so can get the rush same day/night deliver, which is awesome).
Hobchild: ... As for your trouble with EB though that is unbelievable, I'd be inclined to write to Fair Go myself, they messed up and in my mind should have offered you something in recompense.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
