Yeah I gave up on physical media a couple of years ago and have never looked back. Surprised the game didn't preload on my PS4 though given it was a preorder. Maybe only my Xbox is capable of that? Either way it only took about 40 mins to download the whole game.
I still like my physical media, esp since you pay more for digital media which annoys the crap outta me.
I really just want my copy to arrive and start my weekend at lunchtime! :)

yeah it annoys me how I can almost always buy a game at launch ~$20 cheaper on a physical disc than from the digital store.
It is also nice being able to share games with friends without the convoluted account setups that kinda let you do it digitally.

There's something satisfying about having the physical media arrive and also seeing a shelf full of games. I guess it takes me back to my childhood when games would arrive on floppy disc. Although I started off on a ZX81 where I had to enter the code myself and then save it to tape, I don't miss those days!
The $20 is worth it to me to wake up and have the game available, rather than having to wait for delivery or go into EB Games, which you'd have to pay ME to do.

Given most games release on a weekday and I work within 5 mins of both EB Games and JBHifi, actually picking up a game or having mighty ape deliver it to the office is 0 hassle. Then being able to sell/trade in those games or hand them to friends to play makes the value of a physical media game much higher to me.
It used to be that some physical games would play before the digital versions would release, so you got a day or so of extra game play, but everything is digital activation now, so that isn't a benefit any more.
Resale value plays a part, though I am usually so slow to finish games they aren't worth much, and with a lot of games getting DLC afterward, I end up hanging onto it.
The real change for me though is since Gamepass became a thing I have almost bought 0 games. Unless something comes out that I am so desperate to play that I must pay $100 for it I just wait now for it to either become super cheap or show up on Gamepass.
This has also lead to my PS4 not being turned on in months.
I'm a digital hoarder but a physical minimalist :)
I played C&C remastered, I am not impressed so far. Remastered is probably a stretch, but perhaps the original was so bad there wasn't much they could do with it.
Was good for a bit of nostalgia but hardly compelled me to stay up all night.
I'll have another go maybe, but I don't feel inspired.
Same with Watch Dogs 2, looks like something older than it is.
I don't want to think about what my digital collection is worth.
I buy digital only if I can't find a physical copy to buy, or if it is significantly cheaper. I'm a collector and love to see the shelf full of games. It's not quite the same scrolling down the list in my Steam library collection.

the C&C remaster is an interesting one because a couple of years back the lead dev went to the community and just directly asked what they wanted in a C&C remaster, the final product is amazingly close to the community requests in so much as it is a visual upgrade with a few quality of life improvements but with all the actual game logic left intact, warts and all.
Seems to have paid off for them as it seems to be getting pretty widespread acclaim.

It feels pretty.... basic? The scrolling and clearing of fog of war and moving around in maps is pretty painful. We have come a long way in gaming I feel.

it definitely is basic, but to me it has just reminded me how bogged down in nonsense what remains of the RTS genre has become.
I am holding out for a Tiberian Sun / Red Alert 2 remaster as I feel like that is peak RTS for me.
