Picked up Minecraft Dungeons for a couch multiplayer game option.  Previously had been playing Lego Dimensions so this becomes a current similar thing but a lot cheaper as there's no requirement to buy many expensive Lego packs to make it work.

First session in playing with two of us was enjoyable.  Figuring out how it works and what we need to pick up etc.  Came up against what is basically the first boss and failed several times.  Called it a night at that point.

Picked it back up the next morning and discovered that even though player 2 was signed in under her own account initially, the character she'd been playing wasn't available to her.  After some button pressing, we found it as an alternative character under my account.  A quick google suggested that was an all platform "issue" where P2, P3 and P4 need to play as a guest rather than on their own account and maintaining their own characters.  Weird way to code it but in our case, not critical now we've found how to make it work.

Also managed to beat that boss on the 3rd go.  And that was at difficulty 0.6.  Oops.

Not having played Minecraft at all previously, it's a fun game to play with others without having to know anything at all about the Minecraft world.

Only managed to put in 3-4 hours on TLOU 2 over the weekend. Really enjoying it so far and I echo the comments of others. Reading every letter to understand the story better and spending time looking for resources between each encounter has been a real highlight.

On the graphics front, my wife came in at one point and asked what was I watching. She didn't believe it was a game at first.

Just finished RDR2 for the second time and cleaning up some of the side quests.

Still definitely one of my favourite games of all time.

At the time it was released, I played it wishing for the enjoyment of the first and to meet expectations set by others who loved it. Sadly it felt like a grinding life simulator and disjointed and unenjoyable for the most part.

Has anyone been following the patch progress who can comment to whether it's still the same or they have adjusted it?

I played it at launch and it didn't feel any different to how it does now

That's a shame. It was little things like you can only walk at the pace of a snail in the camp, so doing chores dragging feed across the camp to animals would take like 10 minutes and you HAD to do it if you wanted decent progress.

I may flick my one then, since I don't think I'd go back to it, if it's still grindy for the sake of it.

I always preferred PC to Console for the longest time, I didn't reallly enjoy console controllers, but over time they have improved, the games have improved, and to be honest, sitting in the comfort of an armchair with a big screen and surround sound, its hard to beat over sitting around a 27" screen, crouched over. I do still have franchises I play on PC, but these days (like XCOM and CIV etc) , I almost exclusively game on consoles.

I am heading down the exact same direction as you for essentially the same reason.

gehenna:

17hrs in.  I'm doing absolutely everything, exploring every building etc, so I imagine I'm about 50% through the story whereas I know a lot of folks have finished the game in 20-25hrs.  My advice is - do what I'm doing.  Resources are SCARCE.  The more you explore the more you get the ability to upgrade things, the better your overall experience will be, especially in some of the more intense action set-pieces.

I am about 3 hours in and I am taking things very slowly and savouring even just walking around. The game is stunningly beautiful but I wish I can turn off the film grain. IMO, Sony has massacred Microsoft this generation - the list of PS4 exclusives that are just absolute top-drawer games are amazing: TLoU2, HZD, Uncharted 4 and the expansion, GoW (I don't personally rate as as highly as most people do but it's still a great game), Spiderman, and Bloodborne etc. The tone of TLoU2 is very different -- with Ellie getting older some of the themes are necessarily more mature and good on Sony having the courage to explore mature themes like casual drug use. The gameplay is hugely refined and many steps up from TLoU -- now even the runners are a challenge and the clickers are much smarter. You just can't cheese your way through with lucky molotov tosses that attract a whole crowd of infected. The higher difficulty has had the unexpected effect of making me play in a much more aware fashion, which has made the game so much more enjoyable.

And how they managed to achieve this level of technical excellence on such limited hardware is beyond me.

RDR2 can be a grind... if you want to complete it 100%.

However, if you just want to smash through story mode then you can avoid a lot of the mundane chores and just do what you want.

To help you out, don't try and gain high honour by doing chores in camp / being nice to people etc. Become a badass and shoot things up whenever you can. It's a Wild West game after all, so it's not an issue to go after people if you feel the need...

I've finished it twice as a 'nice guy' with full honour, but I can see why some people don't want to play that way.

I now play the OnLine version and it's not exactly dialed in, but it's a bit of fun and I have definitely put the hours in.

What difficulty are you playing on?

I'm on moderate difficulty and also searching every nook and cranny, about 15 hours in and finding I'm leaving a heap of resources behind as I'm nearly always full - even ammo.

I'm not too bothered because I know I will need them on the harder difficulties next time around (but there will be less obviously) if it will be anything like the original Last of Us game.

Moderate.  More important is the supplements.  The more of those you find the more of the skill tree you can upgrade.  And most of the magazines that you find that open up new skills are hidden off the beaten path so it's important to explore.

Believe me, I search everywhere.

Yeah, I want to pick up everything - but am full and can't add anymore items half the time and skill trees are as full as possible as I can get so far. I even let off a few rounds of ammo when there are no threats around to alert anything just because it feels bad not to pick up ammo on offer up.

I just watched a 15-minute version of the original TLOU. I honestly, can't recall more than 1-2 minutes of the footage and story.I thought it would jog my memory and get me remembering it. Strange, I typically have a very good memory.

Same. I don't really have a gaming PC anymore, just laptops, iPads and a PS4. I'm considering building a dual boot Hackintosh / gaming PC this over summer but it's hard to see what I really want to play. RTS are the only games I'd play on a PC now.

I've got a nice Home Theatre room where I can shut the door, crank the sound loud and management can watch her terrible shows on the other TV. I need to upgrade the receiver though....

If Windows doesn't catch up to the level PS5 is at with the efficiency of SSD storage software, it's not long before consoles outstrip PC's for performance anyway.  It's no longer about pure graphics processing power.
