So I'm starting to see the catch 22 with the series-s. Apparently its up to the developers whether or not they upscale their games to 1440p. Even if the console supports it apparently its not going to be mandated. So its possible most games will still run at 1080p despite having the extra hardware. I should have figured there was a catch. It seemed to good to be true. Like your still getting a lot of awesome things with the series-s but whats the point if devs don't take advantage of the hardware even at the lower end? If your still at 1080p you might as well save even more money and just get a One-S. Unless you really wanted the SSD.
MS have apparently now confirmed the series s will run one s versions of games not the one X improved variants. Might not be a a big deal but if people were hoping for Xbox one games to be 4K versions on the series s as they have similar power that may not be the case.
Yea that's what I was referring to. ugh. So really you still have to get the series-x if you want true next-gen performance on console. The idea with the series-s seems to be to give people a taste of what next-gen is like through certain titles I'm guessing 1st party titles. Since third party games on the series-s will still get the one-s version. And hope that maybe that will be enough to convince them to be like you know what why I dont I spend the extra $200 and get a series-x down the road. And to get people locked into the xbox ecosystem.
