No, 2Degrees supports 1500 MTU for PPPoE, with 1508 needed for the eth port and vlan 10 to support that. There is overprovisioning on the fibre connection to allow this, and it is necessary for IPv6 to work correctly. And it also allows IPv4 to work without having to fragment your larger packets (> 1492 bytes) into two smaller ones.

I wasn't aware of that, I'll give it a shot later today, thank you very much.

There's definitely something funky going on for some reason. I ended up reflashing my router to 1.10.9 after having some issues with the latest. Running through the reconfig on 2degrees, everything works fine until I set up IPv6. The config first states the slaac and host config already exist (even though they weren't set up) and then wipes my pppoe settings entirely, forcing a system config reset.

Once the IPv6 settings are added as above, it completely knocks out my pppoe settings within the gui, and will not reconnect. Re-adding them does not fix it either. This has been tried on both the latest version of the firmware as well as 1.10.9 (which it's currently on).

Odd indeed. I had a quick go at setting up ipv6 this evening and had a similar experience on 2.0.6.

Are you on an ER lite? If yes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-7lkrxRvAg (be careful, you even can brick it finally). You can skip 'til 2:55 when you are not dealing with a USB-Stick issue.

If it's the same issue that I have, resetting to factory defaults allows you to get back into the router until IPv6 is enabled. I haven't had much more time to mess with it, but it's the same thing mine is doing.

Yes, that seems to be normal. I definitely noticed the reduction on my EdgeRouter-X before I ditched it in favour of a simple Fritzbox.

I'm also having issues with 2 degree and ipv6 (edge Router x on 2.0.6)

if I follow the (normally perfect) Mr Murfy's instructions (below)

configure

set prefix-length /56 (or 48 have tired both)
set interface eth1 host-address ::1

set interfaces ethernet eth0 pppoe 0 dhcpv6-pd prefix-only
commit (- fails here)
save

as soon as I get to the commit, I get commit failed error and the pppoe0 interface disconnects (of course) and you have to delete it and recreate it to get internet working again...

I have a slightly different setup, in that I only have one lan (eth1 to 4) and all in one switch (switch0) as I need the physical ports.

Any clues?

here are my interfaces (not sure if its useful or not)

Looking at your config it seems that you've followed a guide for either an ER-3 or an ER-4, something where you probably have the lan living on Eth1.

In your case your local lan is Switch0, so for the commands that reference Eth1 I'd swap in Switch0 and see how you get on.

Also note that the ER-X doesn't yet support vlan forwarding with it's hardware acceleration.

If you need that you'll need to drop to version 1.10.10 of the firmware.

This is precisely what happens with my ERL after updating (and then reverting) to the latest firmware. I gave up due to wife acceptance, and got a fritzbox that's working fine for me with IPv6.

so with a few spare minutes and no one at home to nag me that the internet wasn't working, and wee bit of googling, and a few wee tweaks, this got IPV6 on 2degree working for me, commands below...
