Remember the Jump from XT to Slingshot offer? Here was the original discussion thread:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=57864

If you jumped to Slingshot from XT then I'm almost prepared to put money on that you had PROBLEMS.

Incorrect billing. Over charges. Promises to sort it out but it never did.

Please read this: Commerce Commission MAY investigate Slingshot XT offer

I have contacted the Commerce Commission about this issue because even though I have been credited for the shambles I encountered, I know many others here and in real life that have had endless trouble as well as others that just gave up.

PLEASE contact the Commerce Commission to tell them your experiences. Your experiences will be VITAL to them - this is regardless of whether or not your issue has been resolved by Slingshot.

Thanks for your time.

I cant even understand my bill to know what I have been charged mostly. I am getting credits for the monthly amount, but as I use it so little even if I was being charged for the calls and texts I use, it would be so small that I wouldnt notice it on a $200 home internet bill.

My wife jumped and yes, like you had billing issues.

Fortunately I do this sort of stuff for a living so I could second guess exactly what they had stuffed up and while it took a few calls we got it all sorted in the first month and after that it has been sweeeeetttttt.

She doesn't use data though and we're still getting used to having truly free minutes so there is less need for the "ring and hang up" type of signal.

Thanks for your comments. For the sake of the hundreds if not thousands of affected users that ware not having as much, would you mind sending a brief note to the Commerce Commission to indicate that you were also affected?

It does not matter that your issue was resolved. My issue was also resolved. But the Com Com is interested to hear from people that were affected to decide if they should pursue the case further (and help those left out of pocket).

Thanks.

Can you also post what you had to tell slingshot to get it fixed so people can waste less time arguing with them?

I found they tend to be a bit bureaucratic, not really proactive with account mistakes at all. Took me a while to work out what the $10 bills for "free" iTalk were about...

I presume the $10 italk you refer to is for a naked dsl account?

I just called this afternoon to get the $20 prorata plan charge refunded, I opened by asking to query an item on my bill from april (the $20 plan charge) and was surprised how quickly the CSR sorted - she had obviously dealt with the same issue before. I think it really depends who you get.
Having said that, it was made as an account credit, so I will have to wait and see next month if it does come through to the bill.

Nothing special really, the better half just pointed out that the deal was it would be free and asking us to pay a prorated amount for the first month was not free.  The CSR agreed and arranged a credit.

I'm hoping this means we actually get 12 and a bit months free Money mouth

I'll try to find the original bills so I can pass the info to the commerce commission.

I just put it down to poor systems and lack of communication/organisation by the marketing department.

Damnit, I just realised this too. Having not been in the Slingshot forums for a while. Just asked them for a credit and hoping I'll get one...if not, off to the CC as well :)

The new 2Degrees mobile net plans look good, wish Slingshot/Voda would take the hint and match them

Vinnieg thanks for your comment. Please do your fellow e-citizens a favour and report your experiences with Slingshot to the ComCom regardless of whether you get the credit or not. They are compiling a file to see if there is a case to further investigate and would like to hear from anyone affected by the problematic billing regardless of whether there was resolution.

All done :) will be getting off it in 6 months time when my plan ends I think, really liking the looks of 2Degrees and Orcon with their cheaper data

Not impressed. I called them a couple of weeks ago to request a refund of the prorata plan charge. CSR obliged, told me it would be credited to my next months bill.
BUT
Today I receive a letter saying that I had been given $20 account credit in april, may etc and that was the end of the matter. Completely ignored the fact that they charged me $18.71 for the first month. Called them back, CSR kept telling me that it was to match up the billing cycles, I kept telling her that the promotion didnt mention this. She wouldnt do anything about it so I told her I would be complaining to the comcom which I have done this afternoon.

Put my complaint in to the ComCom today as well. Got 2 phones on my account, one got a 2730 and the other the far inferior 2630. After 3 unsuccessful attempts to get it swapepd back I gave up and it sits in its box somewhere in a cupboard. Also will be disconnecting/porting out when out of contract.

Well done Nick. Cheers for the info.

If this is formally investigated by the ComCom my hope would by that everyone has their accounts properly sorted out WITHOUT the need to keep phoning them. The onus could be put on Slingshot to sort it all out (as they should have to) and prove to the ComCom that this has happened.

Like those pro-rata charges that Telecom had to credit people back even though they were for pathetic amounts like $1 or less, which had been charged several years in the past.

Was a free italk service with a Next Big Thing plan, I had to tell them it was supposed to be free since their system apparently has no obvious flag about bundled services. I had to call them more than once to get it sorted, eventually waiting on hold for ages to get diverted to the accounts people because helpdesk never fixed it like they promised.
