Yeah probably cheaper to replace the whole phone. I think one of my brothers dropped something on it. I'm very careful with my i9000 - I have a silicon case and screen protector.

I've never broken or scratched my phones. The best and cheapest protection is a careful owner. Otherwise the phone is always at risk. :-)

And this is exactly the reason I think a case would be a good idea for my phone because I am crappy at taking care of things heh.

I've bought "SlideIt" for my 845...and it works really well. Makes 'typing' even easier on the small screen than the T9-ish keyboard.

It's about NZ$10.....(Euro 5.99)....but works really well. I prefer it to Swype on my Galaxy S and now the 845, too.

btw slideit is also available free, not sure what the limitation is though. EDIT: 30 days trial.

I think the LG has a bigger screen (3.2"?)

The 845 runs Android v2.1. The LG runs v1.6.

I think they both have resistive screens.

Otherwise, can't really comment as I have not used the LG GT540 very much. It looks and feels like a decent phone.

They will perform similarly, based on the spec and the 845 is about half the price if you pay full wack.

A few new things to share today.

1. I left Tweetdeck running on wifi overnight...and in the morning my battery was less than 30% - down from almost 100% when I went to bed. The screen was dark all night. I uninstalled Tweetdeck. I don't need a twitter app that eats my battery up before I've had breakfast.

2. I walked the 9kms home this afternoon and used the 845 as the MP3 player in conjunction with my SONY bluetooth stereo headset. Sounds just the same as my Galaxy S to me......so yet another point of functional equivalence between this $200 phone and a phone costing 5 times as much.

3. Angry Birds doesn't work on the 845 as QVGA isn't supported and Open GL ES 2.0 isn't (apparently) possible.

4. SlideIt swipe keyboard works really well on the 845...but it seems like you need to have an active data connection for it to function properly. Vodafone's 3G seemed to die between 16:45 and 17:15 in the Rosedale / Glenfield area...and the SlideIT keyboard was virtually unusable until the data connection came back.....on both my Galaxy S and on the 845. Very strange.

It really is down to the screen and the processor between the 845 and the much more expensive phones. Non-trivial differences if you need / want them.....but not show stoppers if you want a cheap, very functional smartphone like the 845.

I can confirm that Angry Birds definitely works on the 845.

Launch the game, and then just let it run it's course onto the start game.

1. Launch game, it'll go blank for a few seconds and then start.

2. Let the screen saver come on and lock the phone.

3. Tilt your phone to the left to display in landscape mode

4. Unlock after 10 or so seconds and voila

ah it's tricky, i'll give it a try later.
Pocket legends (mmo) works on this phone pretty smooth with low textures (@710mhz).
