You can never have enough Volvos!
Asianetcom - an international provider with known ongoing issues with latency and speed. XNet used to not use them, which was a virtue. But recently, XNet started purchasing a certain amount of capacity from this unreliable provider, to the detriment of their customers.

MikeGayner: I've received an email back regarding my speeds - apparantly there is a known congestion issue being worked through, which should be solved by the end of the week. I'm going to be generous and give them until the end of the month - if it hasn't improved, I'll be moving to TC, Orcon, or perhaps Ihug.
MikeGayner: I'm happy to change ISP's until I find a good one.
MikeGayner: XNet have admitted (finally) to having a congestion issue, and as I said, I'm happy to stay with them if it's fixed within the next month. Considering their hope is to have it fixed in a week, I feel I'm being generous by offering this time frame.
I have no vendetta against XNet - I'm just annoyed that my service was so good to start with, and has deteriorated to the point where tonight I'm getting a ping of 200ms to Aussie servers, and 600kbps on XNet's own speedtest right now. It's utterly unacceptable as it is.

To me "congestion" and poor results to Xnet's speedtest suggests a problem between your exchange and xnet, not something they have any direct control over, and going to be an issue whoever you buy your dsl from.

Again, Niel, as I've said, XNet have already stated that they are having an issue, so why continue to blame everyone but them? As I said, it's unlikely my exchange suddenly turned to crap overnight at exactly the same time XNet has admitted they are having an issue. I'm not here trying to give XNet a hard time - I posted my response to an email query here so that others having the same issue (and there are a few) will have an idea what's going on - god knows XNet doesn't post anything on their website.
All I want is the same quality internet from XNet I was getting a few weeks ago - once good service has resumed, I'll be a happy camper. So far my experience with XNet trumps that which I've had with other companies, but lately I'm not feeling so good about them. If service is resumed by the end of the month, they'll most certainly be back in my good books earning praises.
