hi guys. i been getting miserable speed as well. no video loads on youtube. like NOT LOADING at all. even now.. 7.50pm. and same after 12 midnight. I just made switch to xnet recently. I prefer it over xtra (rip off) and would not want to change.. I hope this is some issue they will fix?

cheacked youtube myself just now, 1st one loaded sweet, 70-90kB/s download and was about to post a "its fine for me" when I thought I better cheack another one and im getting between 5kB/s and 25kB/s :\ oh and it just peaked at 31.... probly all you other buggers cheacking youtube at the same time

Just tried to the watch the Peters affair streaming on TV 3 Wont even connect Come on guys we need better speed than this

I use a tool Rokario Bandwidth monitor 2 that displays how much data is comeing in and going out per second on my eathernet card, there are probly better tools out there that other might recomend, i only use it cuse i like it and it does everything i want

another way to cheack your eathernet data thoughtput is in the Task Manger under the NETWORKING tab, default it shows network utilisation in the form of a % out of 100 but if u go up to VEIW then SELECT COLUMNS then cheack the box's next to BYTES SENT\INTERVIL and BYTES RECIVED\INTERVIL it will display bytes comeing in per taskmnger update and going out per taskmnger update (1,000 byte per kB/s!)

I belive this works for vista but I can garentee it
also be aware that the timing for taskmanger isnt to the second its too the update so u will see higher or lower states than what is acturly happening per second
and secondly it counds ALL traffic on ur adaptor, so shareing/streaming from local pc's will be seen!

i just called xnet to find out because something seems to be very wrong with my speed. Its after hours so they said they cant check much. But said the network is fine and nothing is wrong on their end.

I did a speedtest and i get 1500kb/sec ? Im on river plan. Is that good or bad? I cant even stream youtube.
Someone told me NZ broadband sucks and US dialup is faster than our bband,, lol is this true

Ah. No. Sure feels like its dial up sometimes but our broadband averages between 2-2.5Mbits/s i think.

As for the youtube thing... It might be a browser problem. Try Google Video or some other video site and see how that goes.

just watched 3 or 4 youtube videos no problem... and my modems only syncing at 4400kbps!

Need to ditch Go Large on the other line as it has better wiring and syncs at 7000

We shouldn't have to resort to this to get Youtube running smoothly. But I just found this and it allows me to pretend that Xnet is providing an adequate service, adequate enough to watch Youtube. I think many will find this software helpful.

If SpeedBit Video Accelerator works then it Brings be back to the point ive been trying to make, the bandwidth is there to use, its just limmited per person! if it wasnt there then useing multiple streams to download anything wouldnt work, all streams would be limmited to around the origonal bandwidth you where getting when combined togeather

also if each stream is going at roughtly the same speed, it might be a good indication of what urs being limmited down to *shrugs*

Google Chrome has a built in Task Manager that shows you what transfer speed each individual tab and application running in the browser (such as Flash and Java) is currently achieving. It also shows you memory usage for each Tab.

cranz: Lucky for some I'm 3.5KM copper length and only get 3.5MBit! Bloody shonky wiring and cabinets i tells ya!

Are you on FS/FS? If you are not on FS upload, then your connection will max out at about 3.5Mbps because you can not reply fast enough with TCP/IP ACK messages. Only Flood and Fusion gives you more than 3.5Mbps.

If the service is not right for you (or anyone else), then change. I drive a 1971 Volvo and do not complain about the performance, because performance is not what I got it for (although at traffic lights I still leave turbos in the dust while they try to spin up).

Dependent on BDP to the remote loction and TCP window scaling options supported by the hosts then 128kbps of upstream could well be sufficient for >3.5mbps tcp/ip transfers. FX networks provide a helpful calculator http://osn.fx.net.nz/LFN/
