For those who have ordered overseas, I received an email last night from Unlocked Mobile's saying Samsung had delayed the shipment which was due the 16th (last night my time) and they would receive the shipment now on the 19th.

Most here have not bought from Unlocked Mobile but I'm hoping they'll end up being a good company should I need to deal with them for warranty issues.

Having said that, we're talking 12 months. In 12 months I'd be very annoyed if there was a problem. Yes I've seen it happen.

My current SGSI was purchased from overseas and I took that risk knowing it would get messy if I needed to return my phone for repairs etc. As soon as I rooted and flashed a custom ROM I accepted there was minimal chance of claiming against a warranty anyway.

I expect to root and flash a custom rom on the SGSII too, so again, my own expectations of claiming under warranty will be slim. But then if you're not going to muck about voiding your warranty then the whole warranty expectation is important.

You need to weigh it up with what your chances (bad luck) are of needing to return the phone within the 12 months.

Buying from Clove/Handtec means that you actually get a 2year warranty valid in the UK, rather than the 1year you'd get from the local PIs.

Clove have advised me that I could return my phone to them, and they would handle sending it to Samsung if required. To some extent this maybe a good trade off against the additional costs of freighting it to the UK.

Pretty sure I got a 24 month warranty on my SGS from Unlocked Mobile.

Yes, you're right, it does say 24 months on the product page. The FAQ page says:
Q. What type of Guarantee comes with an Unlocked Mobile Phone.
A. All phones are brand new and come with a standard 12 month manufactures warranty.

A little confusing then.

Expert. I've never managed to deal with Parallel as they've never answered any query I've asked of them.

$1149 incl GST. I've bought a few things from them over the past 6 months and haven't struck any issues.

Well my phone is in Auckland, ordered from Mobicity. I am just waiting for it to be delivered to me which they said by 6pm!
Hope it doesn't get pinged for GST, but I'll just claim it anyways, so it's not the end of the world.

Stuff it, now hearing vodafone might not get it until the end of next month. And to be honest, if they are selling the Nokia E7 for 1400$ off contract, don't have much hope. Just going to import, I think.

There are now plenty of places in nz getting it in stock, maybe wait a couple more days, or monday next week and i many more import stores will have some physically in stock.

Check pricespy to get an indication of which places, ive seen 3 more pop up over last 24 hours

I think that is quite a good price. Cheapest I have seen on Trade Me is about $1250.

I can see a few people on their FB page have also received theres. No one complaining its been stopped by customs yet.

What did they write on the declaration?

I ended up ordering from gadgetsonline, its available for me to pick up now from there physical store. (overall price was same, in that mobicity were going to send me accessories for free, which im now purchasing elsewhere, eg screen protect/car charger)

Not a bad deal: $1,200.00 + 12 month warranty

Just browsed the einfotech website. They have added the SGSII to their inventory as of today. Bricks and mortar shop on North Shore, Auckland. Price $1150, which seems to be about $50 more than the price from Clove landed incl GST and shipping but still pretty sharp for a newly released phone like the SGSII.

I have found that einfotech will add something to their website and will state "low stock" but they don't actually have it in stock at all. I think they just order it from their overseas supplier once you place your order with them. I have bought stuff from them over the years, including phones, but I find the whole experience totally underwhelming and have stopped dealing with them. Once bought a phone for my son and it appeared to be all sealed up but when he opened it, no battery.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
