I wouldn't deal with einfo any more. Once was more than enough.

Hi,

Has anyone received their order from Unlocked Mobiles . com yet? Did it get assessed by cu$tom for G$T?

Seemingly the 2 year warranty (if that is the case) is perhaps worth the extra shipping if you need to send it back to the UK (provided you don't get stung GST on the phone in the first place).

Cheers,

Mark

Spong: I'm gutted that my Clove sourced SGSII remains at the International Mail Centre while I'm desperately attempting to pay the GST due, but getting through to the right people is virtually impossible. What a nightmare. I have my NZ Tracking number, which is then linked to a "Notice number" and the next step I believe is getting a Customs notice number, (this is the hard part where they don't answer the phone) and then I maybe able to pay the GST etc. How hard can it be? All this drama, then I'll be claiming the GST back in my next GST return.
I managed to get the GST all paid for just now. Called 0800-478-278, option 1, and spoke to a guy there who informed me that the tracking number (NZ post provided number) had been processed. He then gave me the amount to pay, the entry number and the 0800 number to pay the GST. I then called 0800-388-437, they asked for the entry number and the amount, I then gave my credit card details and paid the amount in full.

Now I just have to wait for payment to be processed and NZ post to be informed so that it can then be released.

Here's hoping for a delivery tomorrow /crosses fingers.

When I bought my SGS from Clove last year I went with DHL and it couldn't have been easier. When the phone arrived here, DHL rang me with the GST amount, I paid over the phone and it was delivered the next day.

This time, with the SGS2, I went with Royal Mail/Airsure, hoping that the GST would get overlooked. Not so good. The phone gets to NZ, NZ Post give it a new tracking number and send it Customs. Customs give it a Notice Number today and an Entry Number tomorrow. Then I have to ring them to pay the GST over the phone. Goes on and on. The phone physically arrived in NZ on Tuesday morning this week and I'll be lucky to have by Tuesday next week. In the past three days I have made a total of about 10 phone calls to NZ Post or Customs.

Moral of the story: If you're going to have to pay GST anyway, go with a courier company - not Royal Mail/Airsure. Way quicker and easier.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Wicked good information! Thanks for that. I have often wondered what delays there would be with Royal Mail if you had to pay GST.   Would rather pay a bit extra to know it will arrive faster :)

Based on your experience I've just emailed Unlocked Mobiles to see if there's a chance to pay the extra for UPS.  Not sure if it'll be possible as the shipment is due today and they may not respond to email immediately, nor have the facility to charge the credit card without going through their usual online system.  Time will tell.

Now that I have the phone I would tend to agree with you. I would sooner pay GST with DHL than have to deal with NZ Post and customs, such a farce.

I'm looking at buying a SGS2 as well.  like the person above I looked at Eking and techbrands I've never purchased off either but 2 of my mates have and haven't had any issues.  That plus the fact that they work out cheaper (factoring in the price of shipping) it just seemed like a win win.

I've been waiting for the SGS2 for what seems like forever!!!  SO CLOSE!!!

user's profile quote this post

networkn: I was surprised to read about someones techbrand experience. I purchased a Motorola Defy and other than a delay in shipping which they sent me a voucher to cover, everything was excellent.

That was me:
Overview;
Purchased SG1 Dec 1 2010,  arrived after 5-6 days.
Wouldn't work on XT as it was supposed to.
Sent it back
Got rung by owner saying nothing wrong with phone.
Got it back 3rd week of Dec.
Still not working.
Sent it back - hinted at by techbrands that I was not setting it up right and that telecom not supporting phone yet but they will by 22 Jan 2011.  Sounded suspicious, so did some research - what they had said was bollock's but now it was Xmas....
22nd Jan came and went phone still a brick.
Techbrands had me send it to repair company in Auckland.
Result phone has non-repairable factory fault!.
Yeah vindicated...
Techbrands sent me a new phone early March...
Unwrap it, put in sim yes! finds XT network, texting works.
Phone my son ARRRRGGHHH he can't hear me and I can't hear him.
Another bleeding Brick.
At this demanded my money back, techbrands did honour that.
But by now SG2 not far away so decided to spend a few extra hundy and get the latest...

So use Techbrands if you wish, but I never will again.  Their support is shocking and horrendous!
