gazza007: Just picked up my S2 from JbHifi in Hamilton, handset only,$1147.They'd only ordered 2,both presold.Salesman told me the next lot would be $50 dearer?Dunno why,was just releived to finally get my hands on it!

Gazza

Considering it a) wasn't advertised anywhere and b) is in extremely limited numbers, surely the $50 isn't any sort of special offer.

Sounds like the on/off contract may be up to individual stores to decide.

Hmmm... sounds like the dude in my local JB was spinning some BS. I'll quote your experience when I drop by tomorrow. BTW, which carrier are you with?

Cheers,

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

The JB guy I talked to said the $50 discount was their edge over the competition and nobody else was selling for less locally - or words to that effect.

You may be right about the individual stores deciding the contract thing, but unless they're getting some kickback from VF, it's hard to imagine why they'd bother restricting it to contract-only.

Who knows? *shrugs*

Even if I hadn't dealt with them before, I don't think I'd bother for a meagre $60 discount. Seeing as I _have_ dealt with them before, it'd have to be significantly better :)

What warranty are they offering?
I got 2 year warranty from UK sourced phone for same price pretty much (cost me $60 more)

Standard 1 year warranty with the usual grey-market massive delays if you have any actual issues. Their customer support for mail-order is nigh non-existant, I certainly wouldn't deal with them unless I could walk into a store which I believe is only in Auckland now.

It is possible they've improved since I last tried dealing with them near the end of last year I guess...

I am about to pick one up from JB Hifi in Wellington for $700 on a Smart2 plan plus a $50 voucher. How does this compare to the prices other people have been getting?

Apparently they only had 2 of them and they were both gone as of about 11:30 this morning. An old workmate bought one from them, handset only for $1147.

Bet me to the punch as I can't get out of the office until 1 :(

I suspect they had more than "just 2" of them, as I just wandered in and bought one sans-contract for $1147.

Victory.

I see they're "offically" released...
Still nothing on VF's website which is a bit dissappointing..

Oh, and note the Telecom and 2 Degrees within a couple of weeks....
